Nusrat Sadia Khan

Biography

I am a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at Duke University and a member of the Randles Lab, where I study how computational models of blood flow can help us better understand cardiovascular disease. My research focuses on simulating blood flow in patient-specific coronary arteries to investigate how physiological factors—such as heart rate and vessel geometry affect key hemodynamic indicators. Through this work, I aim to contribute to the development of scalable computational frameworks that support cardiovascular digital twins and improve our understanding of cardiovascular disease.

Alongside my research, I have served as a teaching assistant for undergraduate courses in transport phenomena in biological systems. In this role, I lead review sessions and guest lectures, support student projects that involve computational simulations, and provide feedback through grading and office hours. I am particularly interested in helping students build confidence in quantitative and computational approaches by connecting theoretical concepts with practical applications.
