As of 2021-22, completing the FAFSA or TASFA became a High School Graduation Requirement in the State of Texas through the passing of House Bill 3
The FAFSA/TASFA Opens by December 2024 (DATE TBD)
Seniors: Please come meet with your adviser to pick up a checklist of the things you will need to complete this requirement, FAFSA is changing this year and we will be posting updated required information.
Parents: Please gather your 2023 Tax Documents to provide to your student so they can complete this requirement!
These are applications to receive financial aid for college (grants, work-study, loans). Students cannot receive these funds if the applications are not completed. The FAFSA is for U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents. TASFA is for Texas Residents who are undocumented or are under DACA.
FAFSA Only: Students must create a FSA ID as their login information for FAFSA. A Social Security Number is required for students (exludes work socials). Create yours now at fsaid.ed.gov.
Information Required to fill out the applications:
Student SSN (FAFSA only)
Parents' SSNs (FAFSA only; not required if parents are not citizens or permanent residents)
Parents' date of birth
Parents' date of marriage/divorce/separation (Month & Year)
Tax Return documents for 2023 (Form 1040 or 1099 and W-2) for parents' and student (if student worked/filed taxes in 2023)
Information on current balances of checking/savings accounts, assets, and child support (if received or giving in 2023)
DO NOT SUBMIT AN APPLICATION UNTIL AN ADVISER HAS LOOKED OVER IT!!

Submit your applications online.
Request an official high school transcript.
Submit test scores (may be optional for certain schools)
Submit an application fee waiver or pay the fee.

ACT: www.act.org
**The ACT is not being offered at NSHS. You may register for the OD Wyatt or Diamond Hill testing centers.**
Don't pay for the test until you talk with an advisor from the Go Center! A waiver may be given for students who qualify.
