ATTENDANCE FOR CREDIT
§§25.092 90% Rule - Loss of Credit
Students must attend at least 90% of the days a student is enrolled in a course and pass in order to be earn credit. When a student misses more than 10% of their class days (see below), the student will be denied credit for the class, even if they have a passing grade.
All absences count toward the 90% Rule

Absences that affect you earning credit
EXCUSED ABSENCES include: UNEXCUSED ABSENCES include:
COL – College Trip (After third visit) A – Absence
ED – Early Dismissal CUT – Truant
EX1 – Parent Note UNX – unexcused or unverified
EX2 – Doctor Note
EXC – Excused Absence
HBA – Homebound Absent
SUS – Out of School Suspension
Excused absences that do not affect you earning credit
EXCUSED ABSENCES include:
EVT – Field Trip IHS – In School Suspension
LOC – On Campus OCI– On Campus Intervention
REL – Religious Holiday SAR – SART
T – Tardy HBP – Homebound Present
CV1/CV2 – College Visit DRV– Obtaining DL or Permit
MIL– Pursuing Enlistment BUS– Tardy due to FWISD Bus
MED – Medical (student arrived late with a doctor note or received an early dismissal and turned in a doctor note)
Important Tips:
Notes for excused absences must be submitted to the attendance office no later than five school days after the student returns to school and shall describe the reason for absence.
If a student attends school before or after a doctor's appointment that same day and turns in the doctor's note, then the absence will be marked MED and will count the student present the entire day.
Attendance Appeal - You may request for an attendance appeal if the absences occurred due to an extenuating circumstance. Please understand that by submitting an appeal does not guarantee approval and the student may still need to to to attendance restoration (recovery) to try to earn credit. Attendance appeal forms are located in the main office, counseling office or from AP over attendance.
