Ethan Kopf is a senior at Newton South. He loves to sing a cappella, play the piano, and act in the winter musicals. He thinks deserts are cool, but not that cool, and definitely thinks we should try to stop desertification.
Cheri is a sophomore at Newton South. She loves acting, dancing and singing, which is why she is in South Stage, which is South's theatre group. In her free time, she enjoys listening to country music and eating Reeses peanut butter cups.
Maya is a junior in Newton South High School. She is on debate team and senate at her school. In her free time she enjoys playing the piano and going out with her friends. Her hobby is playing the Ukulele and having Dana sing along. Maya hopes to go into medicine when she grows up.
Mika is a junior at Newton South High School. Mika is an editor for Newton South's online publication, Denebola. In her free time, Mika loves to spend time with her friends, family, and most importantly, her dog. She can appreciate a good desert, but everything in good moderation.
Dana is a junior at Newton South high school. She participates in the clubs Habitat for Humanity and Raise a Smile. She is also committed to the Debate team. She enjoys desserts but not deserts. She wants to become a neuroscientist when she grows up.
Ms. Pavao is a Spanish teacher, assistant dean, and program director for UNESCO at NSHS. She is also the girls' field hockey and assistant ice hockey coach at South. Her family is from the Azores in Portugal. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family and watching La Casa De Papel.
Ms. Cassell is a former History teacher and current Scheduler and Data Analyst for Newton South. She is originally from Singapore and believes it is the best foodie locale on the planet. In her free time, she is a sucker for the New York Times crossword and eclectic podcasts.
