Project INSIGHT

Project INSIGHT: INclusion of challenges from Social

Isolation Governed by Human behavior through Transformative research

About INSIGHT

INSIGHT integrates best practices in research and education from researchers at the

University of Kansas, George Mason University, Inter American University of Puerto Rico, and

University of North Carolina at Greensboro in diverse disciplines: data science, demography,

disease ecology, epidemiology, game theory, mathematical modeling, and sociology. INSIGHT will

also train a new generation of U.S. students, preparing them to pursue careers at the interface of

mathematical, social, and bio-behavioral sciences.

 The INSIGHT Team

INSIGHT team of investigators is a diverse group of faculty members including KU: Folashade Agusto (Mathematical Biologist with expertise in epidemiological modeling), Jarron Saint Onge (a Sociologist/demographer), Townsend Peterson (Disease ecologist);  UNGC: Igor Erovenko and Jonathan Rowell (Mathematicians with expertise in game theory). IAUPR: Carmen Caiseda (Computational Mathematician with expertise in mathematical modeling); and from GMU: Brian Levy (Sociologist) and Padmanabhan Seshaiyer (Computational Mathematician with expertise in Data Science).

Project INSIGHT emphasizes contextual-level characteristics, which recognizes the unique context in which people live, and highlights the importance of health equity. By identifying contextual variation, we aim to move beyond individual-based explanations for negative health outcomes to recognize dynamic social conditions and environments.
