Application
Ph.D. students in Engineering and Statistics, as well as related fields such as Computer Science or the Physical Sciences, with at least one year remaining in their programs are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to students who have not yet formally proposed their dissertation research. Travel support is available for students residing outside the Philadelphia area: up to $1,000 for awardees using ground transportation and up to $1,300 for those traveling by air. Support will be provided as a reimbursement after the workshop. Please note that meal and incidental expenses (M&IE) and lodging may be reimbursed only up to the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) per-diem limits for Philadelphia: $92 per day for M&IE and $187 per day for lodging. Applicants must submit the following documents through the submission portal by December 30, 2025:
Abstract (maximum 150 words): A one-paragraph summary outlining the engineering problems and data analysis methods in the applicant’s research project. The abstract should be on a separate sheet and must include the student’s name, affiliation, email, and research title.
Research statement (one page): A description of the applicant’s Ph.D. project in greater detail.
Curriculum vitae (CV).
Letter of recommendation from the applicant’s Ph.D. advisor or a consent form signed by the advisor.
