Requirements for this scholarship: Recipient must be a member of the New River Valley Reading Chapter and wish to continue their study of literacy, present at a literacy conference, and/or participate in other literacy professional growth.
Award: $250
Application: Interested applicants should complete the Google Form prior to deadline. Applicants will be asked:
Introduction– Teaching experience and type of professional growth request (study, conference, or other).
Learning about literacy– Discuss how the professional growth opportunity will benefit you as a literacy educator, when and where the opportunity will take place, and what led to your interest.
Literacy in the classroom– Discuss an experience you have had in teaching literacy that has been a challenge. How did you overcome this?
Literacy leadership– Discuss how you plan to become a leader in literacy in the future. This can be at a school level, administration level, or as a member of a professional organization. What can/will you do to make a difference?

Proposal Guidelines
INTRODUCTION: Project Title, Name of School(s), Contact Person(s), Phone number
PROJECT SUMMARY: Summarize your project activities. Provide a project timeline that explains each step of the process, including any significant milestones and a project completion date. Provide a specific budget for your project.
PROJECT GOALS: Outline your specific educational goals for the project. Describe the benefits to students and the number of students to be impacted. Describe benefits and impacts for colleagues and your school.
PROJECT NEED: Clearly define the need for your project and provide supporting research and data. Describe how the project is innovative, engaging, and unique. Is the project sustainable and what additional resources will be needed to continue the project in future years?
OTHER: Include any information that you would like the Committee to consider while reviewing your application. Please indicate whether you have applied for an NRVRC grant in the past and whether you were awarded the grant.
