Head Coach-Joel Melvin

Coach Melvin is entering his fourth season as head coach for the Rangers and twenty-first season coaching overall. Coach Melvin is a 1996 graduate of North Ridgeville High School. He earned four varsity letters in football and wrestling. Coach Melvin was a two-time Mentor "Meatgrinder" District qualifier and two-time Lorain County Wrestling All-Star. Coach Melvin went on to play football at Heidelberg College. Coach Melvin previously coached at North Ridgeville High School from 1997-2005 and 2008-2009. Coach Melvin was the Head Middle School Coach at North Ridgeville from 2005-2008. He went on to become an Assistant Coach at Lorain Southview High and School from 2009-2010 and Lorain High School from 2011-2012 and Elyria High School from 2012-2014 and an Assistant Middle School Wrestling Coach at Westwood Middle School from 2015-2016. Throughout his coaching career, Coach Melvin has coached many district and state qualifiers as well as state place winners and Academic All-Ohioans. Coach Melvin is currently a principal for the Elyria City School District.
