What better way to dodge murder charges than becoming a knight?
In a world of sultans, kings, and far-off Emperors, Aliyah Bevsa is a mere peasant girl, with idle dreams that one day she’ll have a greater station in life. When her usual day of farm work is interrupted by two of the Sula Knights, an ancient order of warriors with supernatural martial skill, who can summon swords from nothing, wishing to induct her into their order, Aliyah faces a choice—Either be left to rot in prison for a murder she didn’t commit, or become a part of history.
As the once-peaceful country of Rashitun is invaded on all sides, the Sula Knights’ ancient rivals make their return, sewing chaos across the land. Among other dangers, Aliyah will have to contend with vampires, necromancers, mischievous gods, ancient warriors’ ghosts, and most fearsome of all, her own flaws. Her strength, skill, and character will be put to a trial by fire, where even the moons in the sky can scarcely be trusted.
Apparently stealing religious artifacts might get you executed, who knew?
Darius Abrika’s night of raiding his local temple for a lifetime’s worth of gold is rudely interrupted by the reptilian Verians, whose Empire doesn’t take too kindly to thieves. Forced to flee his home city with a crew of pirates, Darius Abrika finds himself whisked off to the faraway island of Amelan. There he finds a land decayed and dying, that thirsts for any solution after decades gone without rain.
As the Empire sends its freshest legions south on the sea, meaning to claim Amelan for themselves. Darius has plenty of puzzles to crack, and not enough time—The truth of his lineage, why the sea quite literally speaks to him, the fate of the Sula Knights, and countless other questions. These would be complex enough on their own without hostile armies, soul-stealing liches, and even dragons out to put him in an early grave.
Darius will have to prove himself both physically and mentally if he wants to keep drawing breath. Easier said than done, unless the voices in his head are leading him the right way.
It's not a great rescue mission if it gets us all killed.
Darius has spent the last year honing his Aspect powers, he's at his physical, mental, and spiritual peak, a hero on his new home island and one of the finest warriors he's ever known. If only it could last.
The winds of change tear across the world; assassinations, arrests, and upheavals drag Darius back to his hometown, and throw him to the wilds. Old enemies Darius had thought dead hunt him with a vengeance. The mad mage Antanar aims higher than just killing Darius; he seeks the return of a goddess; one who was banished for a very good reason; consequences be damned.
Outmatched at his own game, Darius will need to compromise: either work with the Empire he's grown to despise, and learn to accept a little help, or die with his pride, laying in the same ground as the many friends he's already lost.
Darius might just have to sacrifice everything to stop the mad wizard's prophecy in its tracks. No matter what path he takes, it's a deadly road ahead...
