Accreditation procedures for journalists and media professionals
Journalists, camera crews and photographers – based in Brussels or elsewhere – require accreditation to access the EU institutions. Press accreditation can be permanent or temporary (for traineeships and replacements) and special accreditation may also be required for security reasons (for example, during European Council meetings).

The European Parliament, Council and European Commission have a joint scheme for permanent accreditation. Accreditation is granted by the Commission's Communications DG (DG COMM) upon the recommendation of an accreditation advisory committee that also includes representatives of the International Press Association (IPA), Council and Parliament.

1-day media accreditation to the European Commission

Journalists requesting this one-day accreditation need to send an email at least 24 hours prior to the event they want to attend to
COMM-PRESSROOM-TEAM@ec.europa.eu, attaching:
National ID card or passport (non EU-citizens must provide a passport) You will need to show the original document when you present yourself at the security desk.
Valid national press card or a press card issued by the International Federation of Journalist
Or, if you don't have a valid national press card, a scanned copy of a letter by your editor-in-chief or an official email from your head office confirming that they request access for you for that particular day/event.
In either of the above options, the European Commission reserves the right to refuse granting temporary accreditation if the specified deadlines are not respected or if the documents provided do not correspond to set requirements.
