A. Guidelines for poster preparation
The dimensions of the poster should be 2 feet wide and 3 feet height to fit on the mounting boards. The poster thus should be oriented in the "portrait" position (long dimension is vertical).
Please remember that your poster should effectively communicate your work to the viewers.
Title
Your poster title, names of the authors, department and institution should be positioned at top-centre of the poster. Designations are unnecessary. The name of the presenting author should be first and in bold letters. Lettering for the title should be large. Do not use all the capital letters for the title/ legends.
Poster organization
· Introduction (background and objectives)
· Methodology
· Results
· Conclusions
· References
Text
The poster should be clearly visible from distance of 1-2 meters. Use a minimum font size of 18-20 points. Use larger size font for the Conclusion text and a smaller size for Methods text.
Be consistent- use same font type throughout.
Keep the introduction/ context brief. Instead of narration, you may use bullet-point list. Present only enough data to support your conclusions. On the other hand, make sure that you present sufficient data to support your conclusions. You may bring handouts to provide additional details about your study to the audience.
Space all text appropriately, using left-justification; text with even left sides and jagged right sides is easiest to read.
Reference list may be given at the end of the poster.
Visuals
Use self-explanatory "visuals" (graphs, photographs, schematics, maps, etc.) to emphasize your methods and findings. Visuals should be visible easily from a minimum distance of 1-2 meter.
Make sure that the text and the visuals are integrated. Avoid repetition of the matter in the text and table.
If you select table-form to present the data, keep it simple.
Graph axes or columns/rows of the table should be appropriately labelled. Explain the symbols, if used.
Each visual should bear an appropriate legend.
Colours
Use colours to enhance your poster but restrain overuse of multiple colours.
Muted colors, or shades of gray, are best for background. Use light background for darker photos, darker background for lighter photos.
Use a neutral background (gray) to emphasize color in photos, a white background to reduce impact of colored photos.
B. Guidelines for poster mounting
The accepted posters are to be put up on the assigned poster board since morning on the day of the presentation. They should be made available for viewing for the entire time allotted and are to be removed after the session is over.
The material for mounting the poster will be provided.
Information concerning the poster presentation date, time and board number will be communicated to the presenting author before the due date of conference.
Please note that no requests from the poster presenters to change date or time of the presentation will be accepted.
C. Guidelines for poster presentation
The poster sessions are on 12th and 13th November, 2022.
You need to be present at the venue 15 minutes before the scheduled time of presentation. There will be a facilitator in each venue of poster presentation. Each presenter will present the poster to the viewers in 5 minutes. A way to do that is as follows:
Background/Need of Study (1 min): Why the work was undertaken?
Methodology (1 min): What was done? List enabling factors and obstacles and changes needed to be done in the work- why, how and when
Outcome (2 min): What happened? What is the evidence?
Conclusion/Recommendation (1 min):
You may also mention your plan about future (what next?) or ideas to sustain your innovation.
Please adhere to the time line. The best way to do that is to prepare and rehearse the above-mentioned points related to your work.
