As we continue to learn to recognise letters and their sounds, we had a little bit of fun with cars and driving. Ethan loves anything to do with vehicles, so our two activities were perfect to keep him interested while we do some mark making and identifying letters.

For mark making I simply attached a crayon to a car using two elastic bands. Then when Ethan drove the car around the paper, he left a trail behind it. Today we were just having fun and experimenting, but this could be extended to tracing over letters and eventually writing letters independently.

The second activity was actually just a home made version of these letter roads that we had at nursery as one of our literacy resources. Of course it doesn't look as neat, but I was able to quickly cut off a large piece of paper from our paper roll and write Ethan's name in bubble letters, with lines down the centre to look like roads. I have also added red dots as starting points since taking the photos, to show a Ethan where to begin writing / driving. He loved driving his cars along the letters of his name, and was saying each letter as he drove around it.

Many Game Controller problems can be fixed by updating the drivers. After you upgrade your computer to a new operating system, such as Windows 11, problems can occur because your current driver may work only for the prior version of Windows. There are two ways you can update your Game Controller drivers.

Option 1 (Recommended): Update drivers automatically - Even computer newbies can update drivers with just a few clicks of a mouse. Use trusted software to identify, download and install the newest driver updates for your PC in one step. Your old drivers can be backed up and restored if you encounter any problems. You'll need novice to beginner level computer skills to use this method.

Option 2: Update drivers manually - Use DriverGuide to find the correct driver for your device and operating system. Next, download and install it by following the step by step instructions. You'll need average to intermediate level computer skills to use this method.

If you do not have the skill level or time to update your drivers manually, or are having difficulty finding the correct driver, you can do it automatically with the Game Controller Driver Update Utility.

This utility is an intelligent program which will automatically recognize your computer operating system and device. Then, it will find the correct drivers for it. There is no need to know which specific operating system you have, and there is no risk of downloading and installing the wrong driver. Automatic driver updates eliminate mistakes when installing or updating drivers.

Click the Update button next to the out-of-date or missing driver. The correct version will be downloaded and installed automatically. Or, you can click the big green Update All button to automatically download and install the correct version of all the drivers that are missing or out-of-date on your system.

To get the latest driver, including Windows 11 drivers, you can choose from our list of most popular Game Controller downloads or search our driver archive for the driver that fits your specific Game Controller model and your PC's operating system.

Once you have downloaded the new driver, next you must remove the current driver if it is installed. On a Windows PC, you do this by using a built-in utility called Device Manager. It allows you to see all of the devices attached to the PC, and the drivers associated with them.

Can other devices connect?: I have tried the RJ45 connector with a usb drive and a different brand of microphone (Audio-Technica AT2020). In both cases they worked fine and loaded the same drivers. The microphone is especially interesting as it is also a composite device yet has no problems.

Question: Is it possible to force my computer to use the same driver in both scenarios? I've been doing some googling but all I can find is stuff related to downloading drivers from the company website (there are none I could find). I've tried manually selecting the sys and inf files through device manager, but this didn't seem to work. Possible I am doing this step wrong though.

A pretty simple question, but it is important to me. If I get a TM warthog HOTAS, can I simply plug it into my USB ports and go play, or do I need to download drivers (or get them from a cd if it comes with one) and install them?

Plug-n-Play is an interesting term. There are multiple kinds, each doing different things - for example, a device like a keyboard that needs no special driver at all is plug-and-play, but technically so is the device that downloads its drivers through Windows Update.

Things that download drivers in the background (quite a few webcams, printers, etc.) are more of a mixed bag. In my personal experience, these have almost always worked fine on Linux, but this is not always the case. You may need to install printer drivers or other things manually if the Linux kernel doesnt come with a working generic.

Serenum enumerates Plug-n-Play RS-232 devices that are compliant with the current revision of Plug and Play External COM Device. It loads as an upper filter driver to many different RS-232 device drivers that are compliant with its requirements and performs this service for them.

Windows provides Serenum to support Serial and other serial port function drivers that need to enumerate an RS-232 port. Hardware vendors do not have to create their own enumerator for RS-232 ports. For example, a device driver can use Serenum to enumerate the devices that are attached to the individual RS-232 ports on a multiport device.

Thanks guys - We do have SCCM for pushing configurations but these are going to work from home users who have "whatever" internet connection and typically already have their laptops as well. Pushing something probably isn't any faster but atleast it wouldn't require us to do it with them. That brings me to my next question though, part of the reason we didn't package HP MFP drivers in the first place was because the install would make you plug it in, unplug it, plug it in, restart it. Like 2-3 prompts we had issues getting around for automatic/silent install. Have you guys found alternative install files to get around that?

I'm using Brother now for small MFP's, I don't find their drivers a pain at all. I always do advanced/custom installs. I have found you get a little nicer software (OCR specifically) with some of their more expensive models (~$400-$500) vs. their $200 models, but the basic scan to PDF works well on all of them.

@dklea, thank you for your post and muchappreciation for the very helpful feedback from the other IT Pros. I also havenot experienced the "plug it in, unplug it..." youdescribe. There has been improvement in HP drivers and software which Inoticed after a fresh install of Windows 10 and re-setup of myHP printers. See below the feedback from our consultant:

Hey Dustin -

My apologies for jumping in here a little late! As Will mentioned above, the only thing you really need to run a printer is the driver, and print drivers are typically fairly small. For additional features.there are then packages which include utilities which are larger. Since your main concern is overcoming slow connections, I'd say the WorkForce ET-4500 EcoTank Opens a new windowthat PenguinWrangler mentioned (thanks for the shout out, Alan!) would be a great fit since the driver and utilities (including remote driver) are smaller than 30 MB. Plus, it includes up to 2 years of ink in the box, which is enough to print up to 4,000 black/6,500 color pages, so you don't have to worry about refilling the ink for a LONG time!

If you'd like to learn more about all the available drivers and downloads for the ET-4500, you can find all of that information here: -bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?oid=273253&infoType=Downloads&platf... Opens a new window.
