What will you will learn?
Students will master, from the basics tools, to the most advanced equipment in MA.
Basic: Hand tools, Intermediate: Bench and powered equipment, Advanced: Digital fabrication equipment, design software.
Confident to work with cardboard, plywood, acrylic, leather, etc.
What are your roles / responsibilities?
Role is to help out in the daily operations in MA to:
i. guide other students and staff
ii. facilitate in MA activities and events
What are the benefits for joining?
a. Overseas trip to makerspaces and makers’ events, institutions, manufacturing hubs, design houses, etc.
b. Learn a skill/ craft with local professionals and craftsmen, e.g. woodworking, glassworks, ceramics, beyond MA.
c. Propose your own projects and possibly getting it to be exhibited at local or even overseas faire.
d. Propose your own student workshops in areas like emerging technologies, design software, etc. Get your friends together and learn together.
e. Build up your maker skill-set, mind-set and confidence in applying these skills. A great way to build up your digital portfolio.
What are the requirements for joining?
a. A current NP student
b. Passionate about making and creating
c. Hands-on and don’t mind getting your hands dirty
d. Self-initiated, curious, independent and willing to learn
What are the commitments to remain a member?
a. Programmes are rolled out year-by-year and you have to fulfill Year 1 before moving to Year 2 and so on.
b. Year 1: Complete in-house training and fulfill a certain number of hours on the daily operations and/ or other activities in MA.
c. Year 2: Complete skills/ craft training with the professionals and applied these skills to community projects. Fulfill a certain number of hours on the daily operations and/ or other activities in MA.
d. Year 3: Overseas trip (pending Covid-19 situation). Train up the next batch of students in this programme. Fulfill a certain number of hours on the daily operations and/ or other activities in MA.
e. You can join us no matter which year of study you are in now. All new members, regardless of their year of study, will start from Year 1 in this programme.
