Living in the heart of California's Central Valley, I know first-hand how hard it can be to find support for raising our kids. As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, my mission is to make infant feeding and postpartum support accessible for the Central Valley. I work at Merced County Community Action Agency and see clients via the Merced WIC office. Please reach out if you need lactation support, community resources, or have parenting questions!
My journey began with breastfeeding my first son, Rhys. I remember staying up late into the night researching everything I could about babies, breastfeeding, pumping, and parenting styles. Everything was so overwhelming. But I was somehow able to compartmentalize this information and share it with friends. It wasn't long before people were messaging me asking for advice on their own struggles!
I knew from then that I wanted to support families somehow with feeding their babies. This passion was fulfilled when I started training in September of 2018 to open the Merced Breastfeeding Café support group. Running the group for the next two years, I had the honor of supporting so many parents in Merced County!! It was time to take my passion to the next level. In November of 2020, I began working as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor at WIC of Merced and Mariposa Counties. A year later, I got certified as a Lactation Educator (CLEC) at UC San Diego Extension. Through the next three years at WIC, I completed 1000 hours of clinical lactation support, earned my associates degree in sociology at Merced College, and completed 95 hours of lactation specific education with the Grow Our Own program at Riverside County WIC. To complete my journey as a support person for infant feeding, I sat the exam to become an IBCLC in April of 2024. To continue to bring public health knowledge to our community, I am continuing my education at San Jose State University by obtaining a BS in Public Health.
No matter where your parenting and infant feeding journey takes you, I'm here to listen, educate, and empower you to make informed choices for yourself and your family.
