With the assistance of a grant from petsintheclassroom.org the Notre Dame Science Department acquired a bearded dragon, and he is currently being housed in M-302.
Originally from Australia, bearded dragons are now one of the most popular lizards that are kept as household pets. After a school-wide vote, our beardie was officially named 'Spirit', and he is extremely happy to be part of Notre Dame's family. Spirit loves to munch on crickets, mealworms, wax worms, horn worms, and plenty of healthy vegetables all while basking under his heat lamp.
The following year, Mr. D'Souza adopted a second bearded dragon who was affectionally named "Norbert". Norbert is female and is housed in the same room as Spirit. They are in separate terrariums now because of their size and tendency to fight for dominance.
