The 48th Cupertino Alliance Session occured on Sunday, December 6, 2020. The first bill proposed during the session was the Revised Mission of the Cupertino Alliance for a Modern Cupertino Alliance Act, or "Mission Amendment" for short.
According to Jayden Lycon, Chair of the CA, "This bill aims to amend our mission, adapting us to present time as a development alliance, as well as aligns us with the realities now posed by the Coronavirus outbreak." With this, the session began, with eight delegates supporting the document. When asked by Delegate Sophia Albina, delegate for Nordale about the repealing of Freedom of Movement, Mr. Lycon responded with, "That could pose a problem as it does not specifically say freedom of physical movement, and due to privacy and other requirements, it was just better to repeal the section instead of getting another possible legal event." With that, discussion on the next bill began.
The next bill proposed was the Safeguarding Act, proposed by Daniel Roscoe, delegate for Australis. This act would establish a "Ministry of Safeguarding." Originally supported by three delegates, Mrs. Albina of Nordale took the floor. She suggested the bill be edited to replace the term "NSFW" with "explicit" or "innapropriate." As a result, Mr. Roscoe edited the bill to replace the term "NSFW." Eventually, Liam Munroe, delegate for Atiera, went away for 10 minuites. Isaiah Burdette, delegate for Humberlea took the floor, stating, "I would like to mention that the act doesn't clarify that NSFW from other servers sent by a delegate would be considered a bad thing, I don't really care if a 18 year old posts NSFW in a completely different server in a NSFW channel." The bill was then edited several times per request of several delegates. From that point on, the next proposed bill was discussed.
The third bill proposed, the Main Region Act, also proposed by Mr. Roscoe, proposes the creation of a Ministry of American Affairs. Mr. Munroe, delegate of Atiera stated "100% support. Much needed as we will most likely be seeing a new Chair that is not from North America." Mr. Burdette was against the bill, stating, "I would support it on the terms that an American ministry would be added if a delegate is not elected from North America." And with that, the next three bills were discussed.
After three more readings about rejection of delegates, appointing deputy ministers, and re-assigning power to other ministers, the discussions began.
During the discussion, Delegate Raphaël Olivier of Georgienstine became present. The topics discussed were about the Nacre Service, Plymouth Project, a bi-weekly newspaper, the decline in Asian/Oceanian membership applications, reforming obtainment of the Cupertino Service Ribbon, and the Cupertino session optimization forms.
After the discussions, membership upgrades and delegate applications were discussed. The micronations discussed for upgrade were Nemkhav and Nordale. Those discussed for observership were West River, Haskaria, Northway, Windover, and Wendatia. As of the writing of this article, no updates on their membership upgrades/osbervership have been posted.
