Once you have downloaded the tool, you can use it to unbrick your bricked Nothing Phone 1. The only tough part is the first step which is putting the device into EDL mode. And once you have done that, the rest of the process is piece of cake.

The process will unbrick your phone and relock the bootloader. Since the tool is based on Nothing OS v1.1.7, the device will boot into the same version. But you can easily upgrade to the latest version.

However, modifying your device is not without its risks, and it can even lead to you temporarily bricking your phone. If you don't want to pay a visit to a service center or ship your phone to one but would like to bring your phone back from the dead, you need to find an appropriate flashing tool that can communicate with the device using the SoC-specific low-level flashing protocol. Devices with Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets feature an alternative boot mode called Emergency Download Mode (EDL), which is strictly intended for OEM servicing. Now you can finally make use of this mode to revive your device.

Keep in mind that the EDL package is based on Nothing OS 1.1.7, not the recently released Nothing OS 1.5.2 based on Android 13. With that said, it's quite easy to sideload the Nothing OS updates manually, so you can instantly reach to the latest firmware after unbricking your phone without waiting for a series of OTAs.

EDIT: when i tried to flash an image to the phone, the software i was using (smartphone Flash Tool) crashed to desktop, and then bricked the phone. ie; no power, no charging, nothing. I am just left with a serial port when i plug the phone into my computer (Android VCOM)

This just happened to our cameras as well, after spending1 hour and 40 min on the phone with Arlo support I got NO WHERE!!!! All they could tell me was to take the batteries out and place them back in. I wouldn't recommend calling them as it was a total and complete waste of my time. I asked several times (about 10 minutes into the call) to be transferred to their higher level of support as taking the batteries in and out (even after the 10th time) was doing nothing. I was contineud to be told to keep doing the same thing. She finally had me disconnect both the power and ethernet cable from the base station which of course made the other 4 cameras we own go offline. When I asked her if I now needed to go open and take out those batteries her response was "yes you must have had some interruption in your power". Well of course I did, she told me to disconnect the power. After this I was told about 4 more times to take the batteries in and out. I asked again several times to be transferred which was continually met with her repeating her script on taking the batteries out. She finally placed me on a 32 minute hold to see if she could transfer my call to the Level 2 tech support and then had the audacity to tell me they would call me back in an hour! So after 1 hour and 40 minutes they literally did NOTHING to help me. I agree it may be time to purchase a different system!. Very dissapointing!

Chances are, you already have most of the tools you need to unbrick your phone. They're the same tools you used to root your device and flash ROMs, so you should already be familiar with how they work. Even so, double-check before you begin.

If your attempts at unbricking Android have failed so far, the nuclear option is to re-flash a factory image. This restores the phone to its original state and will wipe your internal storage as well as everything else. It'll also unroot your phone.

The thread got hijacked, so I was waiting that out. I have tried every conceivable way to reset this modem, sadly it is stuck on the upgrade and nothing changes it, not factory reset using the little button in the rear, nothing. There is no way to access the modem, by either webpage or phone app or putty. Anything I am missing to get this modem to reset?

You can leave phone to car when you step side of the road.

You can take phone with you when camera stay in car.

And end of the day/gig/card full, you sync data.

You can pull batteries out of camera or use multiple cameras etc. And nothing disturbed the geotagging

Gave up on using and app to assist with the GPS data and use the following method. I usually shoot with multiple devices and can't be bothered struggling with different smartphone apps just to tag the files. I can use the ( exiftool ) in one shot at the end of the day for ( Fujifilm X100F, Fujifilm X100V, Fujifilm X-T20, Sony A6000, Nikon D850, Ricoh Theta Z1 ).

1. Before I start shooting I start a smartphone app ( BasicAirData GPS Logger ) on my Android phone.

2. When I am done shooting the app will upload the ( .gpx ) file to my Google drive.

3. Then I use the MacOS command line tool and update the files I shot with today's gps track information with the following simple shell script.

But the smartphone is today the most used computer. It is the social media tool, it is the camera that made 135 film popular - a documentary pocket camera for family. (Fixed 28/35 mm lens, f2.8 or 3.5 and flash). ILC was never the thing for 135 format success.
