**Effective date:** August 9, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Expenza ("the App", "we", "us") handles information when you use our mobile application. We wrote it in plain language because the short version is simple: **Expenza does not collect, transmit, or share any of your personal data.** Everything you enter stays on your device.
## 1. Summary
- Expenza has no user accounts, no sign-up, and no login.
- Expenza does not connect to the internet to send your data anywhere.
- Expenza does not use analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services.
- All the data you enter (expenses, income, budgets, categories) is stored **only on your device**, using standard local app storage provided by iOS/Android.
- We, the developers, cannot see, access, or recover your data. We do not operate any server that stores it.
## 2. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, and have no access to:
- Your name, email address, or any account information (the App has no accounts).
- Your location.
- Your contacts, photos, or camera.
- Advertising identifiers or analytics/usage data.
- Crash reports or diagnostic data sent to us or to any third party.
No data leaves your device through our servers, because we do not operate any server that the App communicates with.
## 3. Information Stored on Your Device
To provide its core functionality, Expenza stores the following information locally on your device only:
- Expense entries (title, amount, category, date, recurrence, optional note)
- Income entries (title, amount, recurrence, date)
- Budget limits you set per category
- Custom categories you create (name, icon, color)
- App preferences (theme, language, statistics settings)
This data is saved using your device's standard local application storage (e.g. AsyncStorage on iOS/Android). It is sandboxed to the App by the operating system, the same way any other app's local data is protected. It is not encrypted by the App itself beyond the protections your device's operating system already provides.
This data remains on your device unless you choose to export it (see below) or your device is backed up by your own device's built-in backup system (e.g. iCloud or Google account backup), which is controlled by you and your device manufacturer, not by us.
## 4. Data You Choose to Export or Import
Expenza lets you voluntarily export your data (expenses, income, budgets, categories) as a CSV, XLSX, or PDF file, and share it however you choose (for example, saving it to your device, sending it via email or messaging apps, or storing it in your own cloud storage). This sharing happens through your device's built-in share sheet — we do not receive a copy, and we have no visibility into where you send it.
You can also import a previously exported CSV or XLSX file back into the App to restore or merge your data. This file is read directly from your device; it is not uploaded to us or to any third party.
**You are responsible for the files you export and where you choose to store or send them**, since once exported, that file is no longer protected by the App and is subject to the security of wherever you save or share it.
## 5. Permissions
Expenza requests only the permissions necessary for features you actively use, such as:
- **Files / document access** — to let you pick a file to import, and to save or share files you export.
The App does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, or photo library.
## 6. Third-Party Services
Expenza does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties, because we do not collect it in the first place.
## 7. Data Security
Because your data never leaves your device through us, the security of your data is primarily governed by your device's own security (passcode, biometric lock, disk encryption) and by how you handle any files you choose to export. We recommend keeping your device locked with a passcode and being mindful of where you save or share exported files.
## 8. Data Retention and Deletion
All data is retained locally for as long as you keep the App installed. You can delete individual entries at any time within the App. Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all locally stored data (expenses, income, budgets, categories, settings) from your device — we have no copy to delete on our end, because we never had one.
## 9. Children's Privacy
Expenza does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction), because it does not collect information from anyone at all. The App is a general-purpose personal finance tool and is not directed specifically at children.
## 10. Your Rights
Because Expenza does not collect or store your personal data on any server, there is no external data for us to provide, correct, or delete on your behalf under regulations such as the GDPR or CCPA — all of your data already resides solely on your own device, fully under your control, and can be viewed, edited, exported, or deleted at any time directly within the App or by uninstalling it.
## 11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features. If we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" above. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
