Nota Bene is an Android application developed and operated by Vitaly Basenok in Israel.
This Privacy Policy applies to the Nota Bene application, package name com.notabene.app.

Nota Bene helps adult parents and guardians understand school and activity-related messages. Users can import selected private chat exports, messages, images, and documents. The application analyzes this information to identify relevant tasks, events, schedule changes, items to bring, forms, payments, safety notices, and other information useful to parents.
The application also provides translation features.
Nota Bene is intended for adults. It is not directed to children, and children are not expected to use the application.
Nota Bene may store the following information locally on the user’s device:
• child profiles, including names and locally selected profile photos;
• imported chats and message history;
• generated cards and reminders;
• local processing history and source-message records;
• application settings and language preferences;
• pending processing job identifiers;
• technical installation identifiers;
• locally generated diagnostic reports.
Most profile information remains on the device unless the user explicitly selects content for server processing.
Users can remove local application data through Nota Bene or through Android system settings. Device or Google backup settings may separately retain application data according to the user’s Android and Google account settings.
When the user actively imports or submits content for recognition, Nota Bene may securely transmit:
• selected chat text and structured messages;
• sender names or labels contained in the imported chat;
• message dates and times;
• selected images, media files, and documents;
• filenames and media metadata;
• a local child reference identifier;
• a chat source identifier or chat display name;
• device language and locale;
• a reference date required to interpret relative dates;
• technical job and source-reference identifiers.
Imported messages may contain personal information about the user or other people, including names, contact details, school information, family information, or other information written in the original chat.
Nota Bene processes only the content selected or submitted by the user. Users should submit only information they are authorized to process and should avoid submitting information that is unnecessary for the requested feature.
When a user requests a translation, the text entered or selected for translation may be transmitted to the backend and an AI service provider solely to generate the requested translation.
To protect the service from unauthorized access, replay attacks, automated abuse, and stolen credentials, Nota Bene may process:
• a pseudonymous installation identifier;
• a device-generated public key;
• request timestamps and nonces;
• cryptographic request signatures;
• application package and version information;
• application-signing certificate information;
• Google Play Integrity tokens and verification results;
• IP address and basic network or request metadata processed by the hosting provider.
Nota Bene does not use the Android Advertising ID.
Raw private keys generated through Android Keystore are not exported from the device.
Information is used only to:
• provide chat recognition, card generation, and translation;
• process text, images, and documents selected by the user;
• prevent duplicate processing of the same source material;
• maintain processing continuity and job status;
• protect the service against fraud, abuse, replay attacks, and unauthorized access;
• diagnose failures and maintain reliability;
• respond to support, privacy, and deletion requests;
• comply with applicable legal obligations.
Nota Bene does not sell personal information.
Nota Bene does not display advertising and does not use personal information for advertising, behavioral profiling, or advertising measurement.
Nota Bene uses service providers that process information on behalf of the developer only as necessary to provide and protect the service.
These providers include:

OpenAI provides AI processing used for recognition and translation. Content submitted to the OpenAI API is processed to generate the requested result.
OpenAI states that data submitted through its API is not used to train or improve its models unless the API customer explicitly opts in. OpenAI may retain API abuse-monitoring logs containing submitted content and generated responses for up to 30 days, unless longer retention is required by law or is reasonably necessary to protect its services or third parties.

Google Play Integrity is used to verify that requests originate from a recognized application installed through Google Play and from a device meeting the required integrity conditions.

These providers may process information in countries outside the user’s country of residence. They are required to handle information according to their applicable contractual, security, and privacy obligations.
Nota Bene does not sell user data and does not share it for advertising.
Information may be disclosed only:
• to service providers acting on behalf of the developer to provide or secure Nota Bene;
• when requested by the user;
• when required by applicable law, a valid legal process, or to protect users, the service, or the public;
• as part of a business transfer, with appropriate notice and legal protection.
Selected chat text, images, and documents submitted as asynchronous job input are stored in private server storage only while required for processing. They are scheduled for deletion after successful completion, terminal failure, or expiration. The current maximum job-input retention period is 24 hours.
OpenAI may retain API abuse-monitoring data for up to 30 days under its standard API data controls, subject to the exceptions described in OpenAI’s policy.
Technical job records, cryptographic message identifiers, timeline identifiers, security records, and derived recognition results may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to:
• return processing results;
• avoid repeatedly processing identical source material;
• maintain reliability and security;
• investigate abuse or technical failures;
• comply with legal obligations.
This information is not used for advertising or to create advertising profiles.
Support correspondence may be retained for as long as necessary to resolve the request and maintain an appropriate record of the response.
Nota Bene does not currently create user accounts.
Users may request deletion of server-side information associated with their installation by contacting:
notabene.app.support@gmail.com
The request should state that it concerns Nota Bene data deletion. We may ask for limited technical information needed to identify the relevant installation or processing records and to verify that the requester is authorized to request deletion.
After verification, information reasonably linked to the requester will be deleted or de-identified unless retention is required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or another lawful purpose.
Some technical records that cannot reasonably be linked back to a user may be retained in de-identified form.
Nota Bene uses technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including:
• encrypted HTTPS transmission;
• private server storage;
• cryptographic request signing;
• Google Play Integrity verification;
• installation-scoped authorization;
• replay protection;
• restricted access to infrastructure credentials;
• separation of local user data from shared technical recognition infrastructure.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, but reasonable measures are used to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration.
Nota Bene is intended for adult parents and guardians and is not directed to children.
Imported school or family chats may contain information concerning children. The adult user is responsible for ensuring that they have the appropriate authority or lawful basis to submit such information and for limiting submitted content to what is necessary for the requested function.
Nota Bene does not knowingly request children to create accounts or submit information directly.
Depending on applicable law, users may have the right to request:
• information about personal data processed by Nota Bene;
• correction of inaccurate information;
• deletion of personal information;
• restriction of or objection to certain processing;
• a copy of information associated with them;
• withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent.
Requests may be sent to:
notabene.app.support@gmail.com
This Privacy Policy may be updated when Nota Bene’s features, service providers, legal requirements, or data-handling practices change.
The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
