Knight Readers

Knight Readers is a student library organization, which consists of Westmoreland Interscholastic Reading Competition team members, book club members, and student library aides. Knight Readers participate in the Westmoreland Interscholastic Reading Competition, which takes place each Spring at a local college or university.

WIRC

WIRC HS List 2025-2026 Be sure to search Mackin Via for digital titles from the list!

General Requirements:

• Read a minimum of 4 books off of the WIRC reading list; however, reading more is better!

• Create 10 questions for each book that you read.

• Chat about books with other readers at periodic meetings.

• Attend the Spring competition at a local university.

Although both the middle and high school competitions have been co-organized by Norwin HS Librarian Ms. Kauffman since the 2023-2024 season, WIRC has a long history in Westmoreland County. Read all about it!
