The Coffee and Bytes PD series consists of bite-sized EdTech workshops for both teachers and students. These personalized technology learning opportunities for our school community are designed to enhance teaching and learning at Norwin High School. In order to make these workshops convenient and appealing, they are offered twice a month in 30-minute chunks during seminar time. Most tech topics are presented as two lessons: an instructional lesson for beginners on day 1 followed by independent exploration with librarian support on day 2. The intention of the exploration time is for teachers to be able to incorporate the tool into an existing unit or lesson, or for students to be able to create a project using the tool. And of course, as the name of the series suggests, there's always coffee (or tea!) and a treat! See session resources below.
