Meet our coach
Kamaya Long
Head Coach
I am a Lincoln native, born and raised. I am the oldest of three girls. One of my sisters is an elementary school teacher and the other is a high school student. Outside of dance and coaching I am a labor and delivery registered nurse, and am continuing my education to receive my masters degree in midwifery. I have two dogs, one is a family dog and her name is Bella (7 years old) and the other is my own puppy (6 months old), her name is Luna. Both of them are soft coated wheaten terriers.
My background in dance begins when I was a little girl taking ballet, tap, and jazz. I continued my jazz learning all the way through high school and also took an interest in hip hop and lyrical along the way. I was a part of my high school cheer team for one year and the dance team for three years. After graduating high school I taught dance at a private studio for six years ending in 2020, and also have coached high school cheerleading for the last six years here in Lincoln.Β
Dance is a passion of mine as it is something I enjoyed, and found made my high school experience so much more memorable. I love to see what being a part of teams like this can do for an athlete not only on the court but in the classroom and life. I truly believe being a part of a team like this can help to build life skills that become useful later in life. I'm excited to help build traditions at Northwest High School that will carry on for generations.
Kamaya :)
