At the end of every direct instruction science class, there will be an online, multiple choice exit ticket that evaluates student success in relation to the learning objective. While multiple choice is not the ideal mode for assessment, they do allow for immediate feedback from the quiz itself. Immediate feedback allows students to identify where they may have gaps in understanding. In each exit ticket, there is also a reflective question about the students' confidence with the learning objective. This reflective moment, paired with immediate feedback, helps students to accurately predict their ability to perform on assessments and develop plans to study before the quiz date. When student scores are similar to their rated confidence, it shows that the students are aware of what they are struggling with and what they understand. Try this example exit ticket:
