Financial/Basic Needs

The Texas Supreme Court has halted most evictions, including for non-payment of rent, until April 19. Someone may still face eviction for posing an imminent threat of physical harm to others, or engaging in criminal activity.

However, you can still be issued a notice to vacate by your Property Manager for non-payment of rent. This notice is an indication that the rental property owner intends to pursue an eviction if rent is not paid and will usually occur if you fail to respond to notices/requests to contact your Property Manager.

The Public Utilities Commission of Texas said it will suspend shutoffs for customers who call their power or utility providers and ask for deferred payments. Electric, water and sewer providers also must suspend late fees. Under the program, customers may be able to avoid disconnects for up to six months. · Tarrant County Department of Human Services for assistance with rent and utilities. · Presbyterian Night Shelter for assistance with housing, food and employment. · SafeHaven of Tarrant County for food, shelter, child care and domestic-violence assistance. · Salvation Army provides food, shelter medical, child care, child education, employment transportation and financial assistance. · Pathfinders is providing employment, transportation, financial assistance and financial coaching.

Phone/Internet

Comcast: The cable giant is offering free access to its Xfinity WiFi hot spots for everyone, including non-subscribers, for the 60 days. It's also providing unlimited data to its customers for no extra charge and is not disconnecting internet service or charging late fees for customers who say they can't pay their bills. The company is also providing 60 days of free basic internet service to new customers.

AT&T: The cable, phone and media giant is suspending the termination of wireless, home phone or broadband service when customers can't pay their bills because of coronavirus disruptions. The company is also waiving related late fees. Like Comcast, AT&T is also providing free access to its public WiFi hot spots. The company also said its consumer home internet wireline customers and fixed wireless internet customers would receive unlimited data.

Metro PCS: We are offering a special discount plan with unlimited talk and text plus 2GB of capped high-speed smartphone data for just $15 a month through April 25th to help customers stay connected

Verizon: Verizon said it is waiving late fees and suspending service termination for customers "negatively impacted by the global crisis."

T-Mobile: The mobile phone service provider is providing unlimited data to all current customers who have plans with data for the next 60 days. It will also provide additional data to mobile hotspot users.

Charter Communications: The telecommunications company is providing free Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi internet for the next 60 days to households with K-12 students or college students who don't already have a subscription. Like Comcast and AT&T, it's also offering its Wi-Fi hot spots for free to the public.

The Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) is working with local partner organizations and Fort Worth ISD to provide boxes of food to families this Saturday, March 28, from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at five mobile pantry sites.

TAFB and its partner agencies will distribute 25-pound boxes of non-perishable food to families at the following mobile pantry sites:

Leadership Academy of Como Elementary, sponsored by TAFB partner Como Lions Heart, 4000 Horne Street, Fort Worth, 76107, from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Saturday, March 28.

Leadership Academy at Maude Logan Elementary, sponsored by TAFB partner Stop Six, 2300 Dillard, Fort Worth, 76105, from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Saturday, March 28.

A.M. Pate Elementary, sponsored by TAFB partner Southside Church of Christ, 3800 Anglin Dr., Fort Worth, 76119, from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Saturday, March 28.

Carroll Peak Elementary, sponsored by TAFB partner Community Crossroads, 1201 E. Jefferson, Fort Worth, 76104, from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Saturday, March 28.

D. McRae Elementary, sponsored by TAFB partner Community Food Bank, 3316 Avenue N., Fort Worth, 76105, from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Saturday, March 28.

Volunteers are with TAFB partner agencies and will take all necessary safety precautions and employ social distancing during food distribution. Food boxes will be provided to families on a first come, first served basis. TAFB hopes to continue this effort with more food distribution mobile pantry sites on future Saturdays.

Starting Thursday, March 26, free evening meals for kids will be available at twenty City of Fort Worth community centers.

Participation is simple, and recipients do not need to be a member of the community center or after school program to participate, but children must be present in the vehicle when meals are picked up

· Meals will be available for children ages one to eighteen.

· Meals are available each day from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., while supplies last.

· Meals will consist of a cold meal with milk.

· Meals are available on a first come, first served basis in a drive-through or pick-up format at twenty
