The Novice division is a great place to start if you have never entered an A&S competition, are new to the SCA, or are learning a new craft. Youth entries are welcome. To compete in the Triathlon, enter 3 items in the Open Division. The items must be in three separate categories (see Appendix 1 in the Entrants Handbook for a list).
If you are unable to attend the event in-person due to financial, logistical, or health reasons, we are working to provide a limited number of Zoom feedback sessions so that you can enter the Novice or Open division without having to be physically present. Guidelines are as follows:
Entries in the Physical Object, Food/Beverage, and Research areas may be entered remotely
Physical Objects and Food/Beverages must be ON SITE at the event in St. Paul to be handled/sampled by the judge (judges cannot assess your entry without seeing it in person)
Research papers should be submitted ahead of time (4 weeks in advance of the event, per the handbook)
Entries may be sent ahead of time with a trusted acquaintance or by post.
Documentation may accompany the item or be emailed separately ahead of time
You must have access to a computer, phone, or tablet with voice and video capability and be able to use Zoom
You must be available for a "face-to-face" Zoom session with your judge at a pre-arranged time slot
