North Pines Music opened in the fall of 2009 in Castle Pines, Colorado under the direction of Julia Brochey. The studio quickly grew and students of all ages and abilities attended lessons in guitar, voice, piano, drums, acting and more. In 2019, Julia moved the studio to Colorado Springs where she currently teaches piano, guitar, voice, ukulele, audition preparation and more.
Julia Brochey: Julia has been performing in various capacities for over 20 years. She has classical training in guitar, piano and voice. She has worked as a studio vocalist, has recorded a number of compilations of original works, and performs regionally in multiple musical genres. In addition, she holds an MAED and teaches theatre and music to grades
K-8 at the Academy for Advanced and Creative Learning, is a current CDE standards committee revision member and serves on D11's music blueprint team. She has extensive training in working with diverse populations, including gifted and twice exceptional learners.
Joe Taylor: Joe has been performing in the Colorado Springs area for over 10 years. He specializes in rhythm guitar and singing, ukulele and harmonica, with most experience playing folk and classic rock. He teaches beginning and intermediate folk/acoustic rock guitar as well as ukulele. Joe, with an extensive background in physics/science education, likes to incorporate the physics of music and musical instruments into his presentation of lesson content.
