Place a HOLD on a print book that you want to check out. (Note: it won't be ready immediately.)
You will receive an email in your school email (Outlook) letting you know the book is ready for pick up.
Come during your lunch or after school to pick up your book.
If you need to renew your book, please send a Teams Chat to Mr. Toffolo or bring your book to the circulation desk.
For this school year, the library welcomes students with free periods and lunch periods during the school day.
Upon entering the library (through the center doors), students must sign in and indicate if they are FREE or have a LUNCH period. (Note: You cannot sign in other people.)
Grades 7, 8, and 9 must return to the Cafe with a Smart Pass 10 minutes before the end of the period.
The library should be used for work, NOT to socialize. If you are causing a distraction, you will be asked to leave.
There’s a 50-student max in the library, including after school (first come, first serve).
The library has only one entrance and exit in and out: the main double doors.
ID Cards must always be worn in the library.
Backpacks and jackets should remain in your locker, just like in the classroom. This applies to after school, too.
Phones, Smart Watches, AirPods, and all other personal devices must remain in your locker during the school day. If you are seen using them, you will be asked to turn them in.
There’s no eating of food, of any kind, in the library, at all.
When leaving the library space and coming back (i.e: bathroom or locker), you must make a Smart Pass. We have an open campus, but that doesn’t mean you are free to roam around without a pass.
If you are in the library for the majority of the period, you are to stay there until the bell rings.
Note: Any and all violations of these policies will result in immediate dismissal from the library space, and continued violations will result in loss of library privileges and referrals.
Unlike in past years, Phones, Smart Watches, AirPods, and all other personal devices must remain in your locker during the school day. If you are seen using them, you will be asked to turn them in.
This is in accordance with NY State guidelines and policies followed within the Valley Stream Central High School District.
