Specializing in reviving music of the old-time masters, adapting modern material to the bluegrass idiom, and creating original songs and new tunes in the traditional string band style, TrueGrass is now a quartet and features Tom Draughon ('79)_ from Ashland on guitar, Bruce Qualey from Cable on bass, Jed Malischke from Spooner on banjo and resophonic guitar, and Carol McDowall on fiddle. About the band: In the early 2000s the Garza brothers rode their bluesy “Texican Rock & Roll” sound from San Angelo, Texas, to worldwide fame in one of rock’s great Cinderella tales. Three young brothers formed a band, wowed Willie Nelson, played Farm Aid, got signed to a major label, and had a #1 hit single, “Heaven”, that propelled them to stardom. They sold 2.5 million records, won a Grammy, and received five more Grammy nominations in the span of their career (so far).
