Summer camp & Training

summer Camp

Our 2024 cross country camp will take place from June 24-27 at Western Colorado University in Gunnison, CO.

We will spend a few days running, playing games/activities, watching movies, and bonding as a team to prepare for the upcoming cross country season. As many former attendees can attest, it's a great experience and hopefully many of you can make it!

Camp will cost $195 per student and will cover all lodging, three daily meals, all games/activities, and transportation to/from camp by small district vehicle. Once let one of the coaches know you want to go, payment can be made by cash, check, or through the student account on PayForIt.net. If you want to attend this year but may have difficulty paying, please let me know so we can arrange a payment plan.

summer Training

Building a base of summer mileage is crucial to developing strength and endurance for 5k racing and can significantly improve your performance during the season.

Starting with fewer miles and less walking and then gradually increasing the mileage to a sustainable but effective level is a delicate, but necessary, process that all cross country athletes should consider over the summer.

Coach Schaner and Coach Goeken will work with athletes who intend to run cross country in the fall by providing customized summer running plans so athletes' bodies will be ready to compete and do their best during the season. Summer training will include optional team bonding opportunities for athletes to stay in touch and keep each other accountable.
