"Traditions"
Image: "Coldwater Creek . . . Don't Touch the Water" by Mary Nichols
What did the elders pass down to your generation? What does a holiday feast or a solemn holy day mean to you? How does your family celebrate the milestones in a person’s life? What common daily rituals do they practice? Which customs and beliefs do you cherish and pass down to your descendants and which birthrights do you choose to let end with you? How have these practices changed in the ever shifting political, social, and environmental landscape? This exhibit invites artist to explore how the customs and mythos of their tribe have been passed down through time.
On Display until December 31st, 2017.

“This river too I claim as ancestor with its water and earth and sunshine of days gone by and days to come. . . as well as ancestors of flesh and blood” --- The Ancestors by Donall Dempsey
How do you relate to the ancestral spirits? Who were they? From where did they come? How did they make their way in the world around them? How do their stories, their struggles, the physical remnants of their past lives shape the context of our destiny? What can we learn from them? This exhibit invites artist to reflect on the lives of those no longer dwelling within our dimension, to express how histories shape our current situations, and to breathe new life into old ghosts.
This exhibit is on display until October 29th, 2017 at 427 Gallery at Pearce Neikirk and Partners, Realtors, LLC at 427 S. Florissant Road, Ferguson, MO 63135.
