Come play ukulele with us!
The Northeast Ukulele (Group) of Tennessee was founded in 2019.
All skill levels are welcome!
We are dedicated to playing ukulele within a positive, safe environment for everyone.
If you are interested in ukuleles, but not yet ready to purchase your own, there are often 'loaners' available to use during our jam session.
Come join us on FaceBook. The group name is. You can search for us under Ukulele Group of Northeast TN or you can follow this link, Ukulele Group of NorthEast TN.
If you have questions about our group, please email us at UkeGroupTN@gmail.com
While our meeting agendas are flexible, this outlines our normal gathering.
Greet and setup: Bring your own print-outs or electronic files and a stand of some sort.
Warm Up: We start each jam session by playing Stand by Me.
Jam: We pre-select our songs to give everyone a chance to practice prior to group play. Your playing does not have to be perfect - ours isn't. Please don't let any of the song choices intimidate you. You decide if you want to use simple strums or something more complicated.
Bring your ukulele. (Loaners are often available during jam sessions.)
Bring a copy of the music and a stand. Some members choose to print the songs and others use a tablet. Please feel free to use your preferred method.
Bring your non-ukulele playing buddy. They can join in the singing as we convert them to the uke way.
Business: Next meeting, location, news, etc.
Optional 'Open Mike' Sharing: If you have something that you have been practicing and would like to share it with the group, now is the time. We love to hear any song, riff, or technique that you've been learning.
Closing Song: We end each session by playing the Banana Boat Song/Day-O. According to Morristown Uke Jam, it is "such a fun song".
