Committee Descriptions - Below
President:
First VP Membership: shall serve as chairperson of membership and coordinates annual membership drive.
Second VP Fundraiser: shall serve as chairperson for Fall/Spring Fundraiser.
Third VP Book Fair: shall serve as chairperson of Book Fair.
Fourth VP Yearbook/School Pictures: shall serve as chairperson of School Pictures and the Year Book
Secretary: shall record and publish the minutes of each monthly meeting and post them online; shall record the minutes of all board meetings; and shall handle all correspondence under the supervision of the President.
Treasurer: shall head the budget committee; is authorized to pay all necessary bills until June 30.
Assistant Treasurer: shall assist the treasurer by gathering necessary receipts and forms from committees, then submitting to the treasurer for signature and check release. Does not have check signing authority.
Council Delegates: shall represent their unit at the PTA Council meetings.
Art Show works with the school Art teachers and Principal to coordinate the annual Art Show. Recruits volunteers as needed for student artwork display and purchase by families, local artist display, art project for students, local artist painting during the show, and light food for purchase (bring in pizza truck or some other kind of simple snacks). There will be three (3) subcommittees with a chair for each: artwork (hanging and coordinating with art teachers for sale of pieces), activities (night of artists, and activities during the show), and food for the event.
Back to School Bash works with the Principal to coordinate the Back to School Bash in August before the start of the school year. Recruits volunteers to help with stations and activities and schedule any food trucks.
Bear Buddies organizes the Bear Buddies volunteer program at school, which coordinates volunteers for lunch times, playground times, and classroom helpers. Create a flyer and QR code for volunteers to sign up if interested and then coordinates the volunteer activities via sign up links.
Bears Bookshelf accept/requests donations of gently used books from families. Works with a school representative to have donated books scanned and labeled with the appropriate stickers. Restock and organize books on the shelves at school. Books to be stored at school.
Birthday Book Club works with a school representative to send out an informational flyer to students at the beginning of the year. Collects money and forms and inputs data into a spreadsheet. Money is then given to the school office for deposit into the school account. Will then help those students select their birthday book and take a picture of the student with their book.
Breakfast With A Buddy coordinates before school breakfast activity, which includes food (doughnuts and milk, coffee, juice) and simple activity. To be done by last name to accommodate families with children in various learning communities.
Conference Night Meals coordinates two (2) conference night dinners for the staff in November. Will set up meals in the cafeteria area to accommodate all three learning communities in one area. Will recruit volunteers and food donations as necessary.
Family Social will coordinate at least one (1) evening activity per year promoting family involvement (community service night, game night, Bingo night, skating, dance party, etc.).
Field Day Coordinator helps coordinate with the PE teachers the necessary activities for the spring Field Day. Recruits volunteers as needed.
Financial Review will be the head of the Financial Review Committee for the unit and will be the leader in the financial review of the unit’s books in July/August. This committee shall have a minimum of three (3) volunteers and one alternate on it for the unit’s end of the year financial review. Will do monthly reconciliations during PTA meetings or other designated time, of the unit’s statements and checkbook.
Fourth Grade Social & Swag coordinates activities for the end of the year 4th grade memory day. Organizes, purchases and designs (if needed) an item to be distributed to fourth graders in memory of their time at the school.
Goals will meet at the beginning of the year to establish clear goals for programs and extra enrichment for the students (STEM days, guest speakers to enrich student knowledge, projects or equipment needed to enhance the students’ days that is not provided by the school, etc.) to be accomplished during the year. Will then present to the board for approval and vote. Will work with the 2nd VP as necessary to implement goals.
Holiday Shop plans and presents, as a service to students and parents, a gift buying opportunity during the holiday season in November or December. Recruits volunteers as needed.
Incentive Programs coordinates Box Tops program. Provides information regarding the programs and provides updates or forms to membership as needed. Organizes dining nights with local establishments for fundraising if necessary (during the second semester). Can be done from home.
Math Enrichment Night coordinates the extracurricular math enrichment night program. Coordinates with teachers to schedule and organize stations, as well as purchase food and drinks for the evening.
Reflections works with principal, classroom, music, and art teachers to obtain entries for the National PTA Reflections Project. Either presents the program in classrooms or works with the teachers to have them promote to their classes. Coordinates project with the North Royalton Council Reflections Chairman.
Room Parent Coordinator coordinates selection of headroom parents, meets with Head Room Parents to discuss guidelines, policies, and planning of parties. Keeps classroom head room parents informed of party rules, meetings, and teacher needs. Obtains volunteers as needed. Helps facilitate mentorship where possible and needed.
Scholarships form a committee of at least three (3) members to independently read High School Senior Scholarship Applications and select North Royalton Elementary School PTA’s recipients for the current school year. The chairperson must submit their nominees to the Council Scholarship Chair. No parent of a Senior may be on this committee. These committee members work independently. No meetings.
Staff Appreciation plans and coordinates the week’s activities, gifts and/or luncheon or breakfast. Recruits volunteers as needed.
Transportation represents the school at district transportation meetings regarding transportation issues of the school community. Reports back at the general meeting with any findings. The representative helps the district decide if appeals to bus stops are appropriate.
Veteran's Day assists the North Royalton Elementary principal with coordinating necessary activities associated with the school's annual Veteran’s Day assembly and breakfast.
Welcome Back coordinates one luncheon or breakfast for staff at the beginning of the school year.
