To join us out on trails, you will need a mountain bike(no coaster brakes, kickstand removed, and caps covering bar ends), a helmet, and a water bottle/cage on bike or hydration backpack and closed toe/flat shoes. We also recommend bike gloves and safety glasses.
MiSCA annual registration opens on March 1, 2026. Each rider will need to register and pay a $75 fee, annually. If riders choose to race, there is an early bird discount until August1 for all 6 races: Elementary racers $120, Middle School $180, and High School $240 (prices increase after this date, and cost more when purchasing individually).
We are always looking for new coaches to join us! If you love to ride your bike, and cheer on kiddos, send us an email!
Mountain biking isn't just a hobby for me—it’s a journey that began on local trails back in 2006 and has since evolved into a lifelong passion. My deep dive into the world of cycling truly took off during a transformative summer working at Paint Creek Bicycles in Lake Orion.
One of my proudest milestones was training for an ambitious high school senior trip: the legendary San Juan Hut-to-Hut trail. Crossing from Telluride, Colorado, to Moab, Utah, was a grueling, high-altitude test of endurance that cemented my love for the adventure and freedom that only a mountain bike can provide.
Today, my focus has shifted toward building the next generation of riders. Whether I'm coaching or just exploring new paths, my greatest joy is sharing the sport with others—starting with my two daughters. I'm dedicated to fostering a community where kids can build confidence, learn new skills, and experience the same thrill of the trail that hooked me nearly two decades ago.
Hello! My name is Cara, and I love to ride bikes! Riding bikes has truly changed my life for the better and has allowed me to meet the most incredible people. While sharing my love of adventure and bikes with my boys, I found another love of coaching kiddos! It is the most wonderful thing to see them accomplish something they once thought was impossible.
I love setting goals that 'give me shivers' and seeing what I am capable of. I am part of the Oxford Bike Shoppe Racing Team which has given me first hand racing experience to bring to our team. I also have been a coach for the Hartland Bike Club, and will be a mentor for The Little Bellas Milford this year.
You can catch me cruising along any gravel road or mtb trail while being your kiddo's biggest cheerleader at practice or a race! I am SO excited to meet you on the trails and to continue building this amazing community! :)
I like bikes.
Hi everyone! I’m Heather, and I’m so excited to be part of North Oakland Youth Cycling!
I’m a mom, an outdoor enthusiast, and someone who truly believes bikes build confidence far beyond the trail. You’ll usually find me cheering kids on, reminding them they can do hard things, and celebrating every little win — because they all matter.
By day, I work in education as a special education paraprofessional, so supporting kids, building resilience, and meeting them where they are is something I care deeply about. On the trail, my goal is to help every rider feel capable, strong, and proud of themselves — whether they’re racing, riding for fun, or just figuring it all out.
I love mountain biking, being outside, and being part of a community that raises bold, resilient, adventurous kids. I can’t wait for a great season together!
I’ve always loved bikes and the freedom they bring. Being part of the biking community is something I truly enjoy, especially watching kids grow their skills and build confidence on and off the trail. There’s nothing better than seeing their hard work pay off and their excitement when they accomplish something new.
Hello! I’m Barbara, I started mountain biking after becoming a mom. For me the journey of learning to trust and love my bike has brought me strength, joy and a community I didn’t know I needed. Teaching kids the skills for safety and success on the trail is always rewarding.
This year is My first year of MiSCA as a coach / parent. My son Jack he is 5yrs and he is very excited about riding bikes this summer.
My back ground experience is 9 years of Bike patrol as well as 9 year as a alpine patroller at Pine Knob.
I rode for Main Sreet Bicycles race team for 6 years racing mountain bIkes and gravel bikes all over the state of Michigan.
I look forward to racing Iceman every year this will be my 8th year and Jack has raced the snow cone every year of his life, his 5th year.
Hello, I am Aaron. Cycling has become more than just a hobby for me—it’s a way to explore, challenge myself, and enjoy the outdoors in every season. I love the thrill of mountain biking, navigating rugged trails and technical terrain, as well as the freedom of gravel riding, where long, quiet roads lead to unexpected places. Road biking brings a different kind of excitement, with smooth pavement, speed, and the rhythm of long-distance rides. Each style offers its own experience, but together they create a passion for riding that keeps me motivated, energized, and always looking forward to the next adventure. The best part about being a cycling coach for kids is watching their confidence grow with every ride, from learning basic skills to tackling trails they once thought were impossible. Seeing their excitement, teamwork, and sense of accomplishment makes every practice rewarding and reminds you why you love the sport in the first place.
Hi! I’m Lucy. I actually didn’t start mountain biking until I became a mom, but I fell in love with it and now I’m a coach for the North Oakland Youth Cycling Team. I love helping kids build their confidence on the trails and seeing them get excited about being outdoors.
When I’m not on my bike, I stay pretty busy leading a Girl Scout troop and serving as the chair for the Detroit SWE Chapter (Society of Women Engineers). At home, I’m usually hanging out with my husband and our two girls, working in the garden, or planning our next family trip. For me, it’s all about staying active and sharing that energy with the team!

I’ve been mountain biking since 2020 and I’m heading into my third season riding with the team and second year coaching—and I’m just getting started.
I’m all about getting the next generation fired up about mountain biking and building riders who are confident, aggressive, and having fun on every trail. I live by the motto “earn your descent,” because the climb is where you build it—and the downhill is where you prove it.
As a coach, I’m focused on developing real, foundational skills that last a lifetime: control, confidence, and smart riding decisions under pressure. Whether it’s their first ride or their fastest run yet, I’m here to push riders to level up and fall in love with the sport.
Let’s work, climb, and send it.
