North American fields are a type of grassland habitat. Examples of grasslands include fields, amenity grassland (lawns and recreational fields), agricultural pasture, common land, and waste (grass) lands (Grassland habitats 2023). Up to 2/3rds of a town or a city may be considered grasslands, and grasslands of all kinds encourage biodiversity along with social and even economic benefits (Grassland habitats 2023). Fields will typically have grass as their dominant vegetation, with the exception of agricultural fields (Grasslands Explained). Fields are often open and very flat and where there isn't enough rainfall to support the growth of an entire forest of a lot of other vegetation (Grasslands Explained). North American fields would be considered a temperate grassland (Grasslands Explained).

North America has experiences record fire seasons since 2000, and these seasons do not seem to be slowing down soon (Bosworth). Debris flew through the air as well as floated in the water during the first rainfall after the fires burned away animals and vegetation (Bosworth).
Invasive species will originate in once place, but move to another place and overcrowd the native species that are there (Bosworth). These invasive species will kill the native species, and take away from the resources that the native species need for survival (Bosworth).
