About Us

Why?

We strongly believe in and endorse the power of Nudging towards effective behavior change at a large scale, and for the better.

Nudging and the behavioral insights have proven themselves so successful because it is based on solid experimental methodology and rigorous scientific literature.

We therefore feel the need and forecast the benefits of creating a meeting place and sharing network of Nudges and Nudgers in Norway, nevertheless retaining the highest compliance to International scientific standards.

When?

Since the publication of “Nudge: Improving Decisions about Health, Wealth, and Happiness” (Thaler & Sunstein, 2008), there has been an exponentially increasing global interest on Nudging “better” behaviors: Countries such as the USA, United Kingdom and Denmark were among the first to spark the broader’s public attention on Nudging, especially in the public service.

We felt that the time was about right to establish a network of its own in Norway in the summer of 2016, because of two fortunate contingencies:

  1. An improved systematization of the definitions and the ethical underpinnings of Nudging, through scientific papers and the launch of a European Nudging Network;
  2. Enough active local parties, sharing a common interest in creating, testing and sharing successful behavior-based interventions in Oslo and reaching out to Norway altogether.

How?

The purpose of the Network is to create a solid community of Nudging and Behavioral Insights enthusiasts, who are eager to engage in research and implement interventions in Norway towards better lives and society. Following other Countries’ leads, these may comprise healthier eating habits, sustainable environmental practices, increasing productivity, tax compliance, public transportation effectiveness, support pension and retirement savings, etc.

In order to succeed, we strive to connect researchers, public servants, non-governmental organizations and charities, health care and education deliverers.

Secondly, we mean to create a body of interventions that adhere to consistent scientific framework and are empirically tested in Norway.

Finally, we share the findings and main results for each intervention, in order to be exported and implemented in other settings across the nation.
