The duo began crafting songs in Mikkjal's home studio, pouring heart and energy into their sound.
The band made its debut in 2017 with the electrifying single "Gloym Meg"," quickly followed by "Betur Enn Ongin" and the irresistibly dynamic "Lap Dance Boogie"." These early releases showcased Norðkraft's knack for blending raw energy with melodic precision, earning them a loyal following.
Over the years, Mikkjal and Edmund wrote prolifically, building a treasure trove of songs. Yet, it wasn't until 2024 that they decided to tap into their expansive back catalogue and bring it to life with fresh ambition.
The spark came when Edmund, now based in Esbjerg, Denmark, reached out to drummer Matthew Anyanwu, a longtime collaborator and rhythm powerhouse. Matthew, in turn, recruited bassist Peter Jakobsen, and the band's current lineup was complete.
This renewed energy led to a flurry of creativity. Norðkraft began recording new material, and on November 1, 2024, they unleashed their first single from this reinvigorated lineup: the anthemic "Marianna". The track began an exciting new chapter, igniting anticipation among fans and critics alike.
As 2025 unfolds, Norðkraft is gearing up to release a series of singles, each promising to push their sound further. But that's not all—the band is hard at work on a full-length album, set to drop in the spring of 2025.
With roots firmly planted in the raw, majestic landscapes of the Faroe Islands and sights set on new horizons, Norðkraft is a band on the rise.
Their journey is a testament to the power of collaboration, passion, and the unyielding spirit of rock 'n' roll. Stay tuned—this is just the beginning of Norðkraft's story.
