Our Work

March 2023 - We hold our first meeting naming our dreams for the future and the barriers holding racism in place.

April-August 2023 - We continue meeting monthly, then bi-monthly when we see the need for more time to establish ourselves as a 501(c)3 organization.

June 2023 - We elect our first board.

July 2023 - We invite members of CUSD's leadership team to our monthly meeting to discuss how their work intersects with our group's goals.

August 2023 - Our group's audit of policies reveals gaps and lack of adherence to current Board policies. A letter is sent to Board members and the superintendent addressing issues with BP 5145.9 Hate Motivated Behavior.

September 2023 - We meet with the CUSD Board President & Vice President to discuss our concerns with BP 5145.9. Ten of our members attend CUSD's BIPOC Community Engagement meeting.

February 2024 - NCAC members address the CUSD Board to share examples of hate-motivated behavior and ask the Board to improve BP 5145.9.

May 2024 - NCAC meets with CUSD District leadership to revise BP & AR 5145.9.

June 2024 - CUSD Board votes to approve BP & AR 5145.9 - Hate-Motivated Behavior.

November 2024 - We launch Start Here, Start Now book club with educators, parents, and administrators to cultivate antibias and antiracist education practices in our community.
