Hailing from Queensland’s Gold Coast, the Artist Boardriders Club (ABC) surf and make art on the fringes of the 8th World Surfing Reserve. Since forming in the line-up at Snapper Rocks in 2018, the club has included members from some of the Gold Coast’s most notable Artist Run Initiatives including Mint Art House, Art-Work Agency, The Walls and Maverick Artspace. 

ABC has exhibited over thirty artists in three curated exhibitions: Surf Salon (2019) at The Walls and Surf Salon (2018) at The Walls and Maverick Artspace on the Gold Coast. Public programs for the Surf Salon shows included workshops, screenings and artist talks: Dandy Savage, Fran Miller (2020); Party Wave, Tessa Bergan (2019); Smiling Bag, Shane Fitzgerald and Dion Agius (2019); Surf Salon, Tim Baker (2018). 

In 2021 ABC presented their first collaborative exhibition Dot Matrix of Humanity at Metro Arts in Brisbane with accompanying essay by renowned surf writer Tim Baker. In 2022 they exhibited From Where You'd Rather Be in Outer Space's Supercut program, in Light Waves at Flotsam Festival and at Pecha Kucha Gold Coast Water as part of the Asia Pacific Architecture Festival. In 2022 they also dropped in on local ABC Gold Coast Radio with Bern Young. 

In 2025 they did a self directed residency at the Art House in Surry Hills, Sydney, where they focused on research at the URBN Surf wave pool and St Mary's Cathedral (as well as a bunch of galleries). This research forms the basis of their upcoming work Thou Shalt Get Pitted (Green Cathedral) for Sorftwash in Tweed Heads. 

Committed to Coral Sea camaraderie, the ABC host monthly social surf meet-ups throughout the year, free and open to all who surf and make art. The ABC are sponsored by Vissla.
