CONTINUING CARE RETIREMENT COHOUSING
An increase in the elderly population is a global phenomenon, particularly in developed and developing countries. This is due to socioeconomic development in these countries, such as improved education, healthcare, and employment, as well as increased life expectancy and a decrease in fertility and mortality rates. Malaysia, in fact, has seen an increase in population growth and will become an ageing country by 2030. Advances in the fields of medical technologies and science, medication, and public health, and increased awareness of nutrition, environmental and personal hygiene have resulted in a dramatic increase in global life expectancy. However, this has resulted in an ageing population, putting many countries' socioeconomic structures in jeopardy. To meet the growing demand for elderly healthcare services, it is critical to develop cost-effective, unobtrusive, and simple-to-use healthcare solutions. Smart homes, which integrate environmental and wearable medical sensors, sensors, and modern communication and information technologies, can allow for low-cost, constant and remote monitoring of elderly health and wellbeing. Healthcare workers can also monitor the overall health of the elderly in real time and provide feedback and support from a distance. To achieve the goal of the project, which is to establish a Continuing Care Retirement Cohousing as a movement on continuing care communities and social engagement that integrate Smart Living Home by implementing Gerontechnology aiming to improve the elderly's quality of life.
