INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Noorly ("we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Noorly mobile application. By using Noorly, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT
1. Information You Provide
- Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name and email address.
- Profile information: The display name you choose for your community profile.
2. Information Collected Automatically
- Location data: We collect your GPS location to calculate accurate prayer times, determine the Qibla direction, show local weather, and find nearby mosques and halal restaurants. This data is used for these features and is not permanently stored on our servers.
- Step count data: We use your device's motion sensor to count your daily steps. This data is stored locally on your device and is optionally shared within your community groups.
- Usage data: Basic app usage statistics to improve performance.
3. Camera Access
Noorly uses the camera for scanning food barcodes and for the Halal Ingredient Scanner and Calorie Scanner. When you use the scanners, the photo you take is sent securely to Google's Gemini AI service to analyse the ingredients or food and return a result. Photos are used only to produce that result and are not stored by Noorly afterward. We never use your photos for advertising.
4. AI Assistant, Voice Call and Dream Interpreter
Noorly includes AI-powered features that process the content you provide:
- Noorly AI (chat): the questions you type are sent to Google's Gemini AI service to generate an answer.
- Voice call: when you start a voice conversation with Noorly AI, your speech is recorded on your device and sent to Google's Gemini AI service to be transcribed and answered. Audio is used only to produce the reply and is not stored by Noorly afterward.
- Dream Interpreter: the dream description you enter is sent to Google's Gemini AI service to generate an interpretation.
Please avoid sharing sensitive personal information in these conversations.
HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use the information we collect to:
- Calculate accurate prayer times based on your location
- Determine the Qibla direction and show local weather
- Find nearby mosques and halal restaurants
- Power the AI assistant, voice call, dream interpreter, and food/ingredient scanners
- Enable community features (groups, leaderboards, achievements)
- Send prayer time notifications (Adhan alerts) and daily Quran reading reminders
- Track your reading streaks, memorization, Arabic learning progress, and achievements
- Back up your progress to your account so you don't lose it on a new device
- Improve the app's features and performance
DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY
- Your account data and progress backup are stored securely using Google Firebase, which complies with industry-standard security practices.
- Location, voice, and photo data is processed in real time to provide the feature and is not permanently stored on our servers.
- We use encryption for all data transmission.
- We never sell your personal data to third parties.
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Noorly uses the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase — Authentication and database
- Google Gemini API — powers the AI assistant, voice call, dream interpreter, and food/ingredient scanners
- Google Places — finding nearby mosques and halal restaurants
- Aladhan API — prayer times calculation
- AlQuran Cloud — Quran text data
- OpenWeatherMap — weather data
- Open Food Facts — food nutrition data
LOCATION DATA
Noorly accesses your location to calculate prayer times, find the Qibla direction, display local weather, and find nearby mosques and restaurants. We do not track your location in the background without your explicit permission.
NOTIFICATIONS
Noorly sends the following notifications:
- Prayer time alerts (Adhan) — five times per day
- Daily Quran reading reminders — once per day
- Achievement notifications — when you earn a badge
- Fasting reminders (Suhoor and Iftar alerts)
You can disable any notifications in your device settings or within the app.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Noorly does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age.
YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to access, correct, delete, and export your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@noorly.app.
DATA DELETION
To delete your account:
Option 1 — Delete from the app: Open Noorly, tap Profile, then Settings, then "Delete Account", and confirm deletion.
Option 2 — Email request: Send an email to support@noorly.app with the subject line "Delete My Account" and include your registered email address in the message.
What gets deleted: your profile (name, email), your Quran reading progress and streaks, your community group memberships, your achievements and XP points, and your bookmarks and settings.
What gets retained: anonymous usage statistics (no personal identifiers).
Deletion timeline: all personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days of your request.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app and by updating the "Last updated" date above.
