Welcome to Noor: Kuran Widgets & Namaz ("Noor", "the App", "we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our iOS application.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. Noor is designed to function with minimal data collection — we do not require account registration, and we do not sell your personal data to third parties.

By using Noor, you agree to the terms described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

Noor does not require you to create an account or provide personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number.

2.2 Location Data

What: Approximate or precise device location
When: Only while the app is actively in use (never in the background)
Why: To calculate accurate prayer times and determine Qibla direction for your current location
Storage: Location data is processed locally on your device and is never stored on our servers or transmitted to us

2.4 Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is stored only on your device using Apple's standard storage and is never transmitted to our servers:

Favorited Quran verses
Quran reading progress
Tasbih counter records
Prayer alarm configurations
Notification preferences

3. How We Use Information

We use the information described above solely to:

Provide core app functionality — prayer times, Qibla direction, Quran reading
Generate AI Tafsir — selected verse text is sent to Google's Gemini API to produce commentary; no personally identifiable information is included in this request
Manage subscriptions — to verify your premium status and restore purchases
Deliver notifications — daily Quran verse reminders and prayer time alarms, sent entirely on-device via Apple's notification system
Display home screen & lock screen widgets — widget data is processed locally using WidgetKit

We do not use your information for advertising, behavioral profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the App.

4. Third-Party Services

Noor integrates the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing their data practices:

RevenueCat

Manages in-app subscriptions and purchase restoration. RevenueCat may collect anonymous device identifiers and purchase transaction data.

Google Gemini API

Powers the AI Tafsir feature. When you request a tafsir, the text of the selected Quran verse is sent to Google's API. No personally identifiable information is transmitted. Google may process this data in accordance with their terms.

Aladhan.com

Provides daily prayer time calculations. A general location (city-level) may be included in the API request. No personal data is shared.

Al-Quran Cloud

Provides Quran text and translations. Requests contain no personal data.

Apple WidgetKit & Notification Services

Widgets and push notifications are delivered through Apple's frameworks entirely on-device.

5. Data Retention

Local data (favorites, settings, progress): Retained on your device until you delete the app or clear app data
Subscription data: Retained by RevenueCat in accordance with their policy for the duration necessary to manage your subscription
AI Tafsir requests: We do not store tafsir requests or responses on our servers; Google's retention policies apply to their processing

6. Children's Privacy

Noor is not directed at children under the age of 4+ as rated on the App Store. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App contains no advertising, no social features, and no user-generated content.

8. Data Security

We implement industry-standard practices to protect your information:

All API communications use HTTPS/TLS encryption
No passwords or financial data are processed or stored by the App — all payments are handled exclusively by Apple and RevenueCat
Local app data is protected by iOS sandboxing and, where applicable, device encryption

9. Your Rights

Depending on your region, you may have the right to:

Access the data held about you
Delete your data (for local data: simply delete the app; for RevenueCat data: contact us)
Opt out of data collection by not using features that require network access (AI Tafsir, prayer times API)

GDPR (EU/UK users): The legal basis for processing is legitimate interest in providing the requested app functionality and contract performance for subscription management.

CCPA (California users): We do not sell personal information. You have the right to know what data is collected and request its deletion.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
