You can use the entire app without an account. In that mode your data stays on your device and nothing is uploaded.
If you sign in with Google, your puzzles and your solving progress are stored in Google Firebase, so they can sync between your devices.

The app uses Google Firebase for sign-in and syncing your puzzles and progress.
