The recall notice and organizers have made several misleading and untrue statements about why they seemed to think a recall was necessary. But are these really reasons to waste your taxpayer dollars that were meant for our students' education? And, are any of these reasons even true or legitimate?
A Wasteful Recall Because of Bathrooms?
Did you know that LESD has just as many custodians as other similar size districts?
And LESD custodians are committed to making sure bathrooms, and all facilities, are clean and safe for our students! Most custodial staff live in or are closely connected to our community, and so work hard to make sure every part of the schools are ready for their friends, neighbors, and own children to be in each day.
A Wasteful Recall Without Evidence?
Did you know that there have been no founded complaints about board policy or parent rights violations in LESD?
Like all school districts in California, LESD has a clear and public process to follow for reporting and investigating complaints or alleged violations, as well as oversight by the county and state. Not only that, the current board has received more training on School Board Governance than board members have in years, and even has had members complete the state school boards association's "Master's in Governance".
A Wasteful Recall Based on Lies?
Did you know that there have been ZERO fully credentialed staff dismissed by LESD?
All employee dismissals must be approved by the LESD board and included in the board minutes that are available to the public on the LESD website. This is information that anyone can easily verify for themselves by clicking here, and when a Bakersfield news station investigated this they reported that they found only six dismissals, and all were prior to the current district administration and Board that began in 2022. A Wasteful Recall Over Telehealth?
Did you know that districts across the state AND nation provide high-quality speech therapy (as well as MANY other health and Special Education services) by telehealth?
Although many districts choose this because there's such a shortage of qualified therapists, for our Lamont students it means our students have access to the best-trained and most experienced therapists anywhere in the state! Even though it can be a challenge to get providers to move to rural areas like Lamont, thanks to Zoom our students can access service providers that are just as high-quality as those providing services in even California's biggest cities. Click here for the Bakersfield news story about how LESD is using this challenge as an opportunity to get our students the best quality services available in the state.
