Overarching Competency # 1 (name and level) personal effectiveness: started between pre-emergent and emergent and now would place myself at developing.
Overarching Competency # 2 (name and level) interpersonal effectiveness: started between pre-emergent and emergent and now would place myself at developing.
Foundational Competency (Explore and Challenge Diversity) collaborate purposefully: started at emergent and now would place myself at developing.
Leadership Pathway Competency (name and level) collaborative relationships: started at pre-emergent and now would place myself at emerging.
How did the TLI experience impact your growth as a teacher leader in each of your four chosen competencies?
The TLI experience impacted my growth as a teach leader immensely. I never thought of myself as a leader. I am a person who has always just tries to figure things out myself, and I rarely ask for help. I admire many other staff members for their leadership qualities, but never thought I had any of my own. This experience forced me out of my comfort zone and challenged me to go out and seek relationships with others. It taught me that I do have some leadership skills. I developed in personal effectiveness by building trust and credibility with my colleagues. I developed in interpersonal effectiveness by creating a shared vision with colleagues and enacting a plan to work toward that vision. I developed in the foundational competency, collaborate purposefully, by engaging in constant self-reflection of my strengths and limitations as a leader, as well as accepting the strengths and limitations of others. And I developed my instructional leadership through facilitating collaborative relationships with my colleagues, and showing a willingness to work as part of a team.
What was the most valuable part of the TLI process for you?
The most valuable part of the TLI process for me was that I learned to reach out to others instead of remaining stuck in my metaphorical "box".
What are your next steps to continue your growth as a teacher leader?
I will continue to advocate for regularly scheduled PLC meetings for our staff, with involvement from the special ed director.
