  • Nov. 12, 2011 - Collection of items to support Soldiers in Afghanistan

  • Mar. 11, 2011 - Made Greeting Cards for house-bound residents
  • Oct. 14, 2011 - Community Service Credit goes to those who brought pasta boxes for SERVE and gave financial donations to Rainbow TRC
  • Nov. 4, 2011 - Made 2 large taco soup pots and cornbread, delivered to SERVE that evening
  • Nov. 18, 2011 - Libby, Matthew and Madison went to SERVE to sort Operation Turkey food
  • Nov. 19, 2011 - Tommy, Katie, Libby, Matthew, Andy, Evan, Jackie, Ryan, Tara, Suzanne, Megan and Madison prepared SERVE Operation Turkey packages for those in need.
  • Dec. 2 - bring food needs for the group of 8 4-hers that will be serving breakfast to SERVE on Dec. 17, made holiday cards for SERVE
  • Dec. 17 making breakfast for 60 people at SERVE shelter: Libby, Anya, Calah, Megan, Tori, Rose, Paige, Tara.
  • Jan. 6, 2012 - the club voted to donate money to a 4-H family whose children were in a car accident. they also decided to make blankets to send to them, which were sent in March
  • Mar. 2, 2012 - our club assembled six 4-H care baskets. Our intention is to find someone in need, close to one of our 4-H families that could use a message of hope and happy blessings. families brought items for these care baskets and the following families delivered to individuals: Nguyen, Sandberg, Miller

  • 2012-2013 Community Service:
  • Oct. 5, 2012 General Club meeting - collected food and water for the Pumpkin Pick at Lucky Drive Ranch in Catlett, VA for Oct. 13 festival. Some members made signage for event from 6:30-7pm before meeting started.
  • Oct. 13, 2012 Pumpkin Pick volunteers are James and Maggie Sloan J. (4.5 hours), Linda, Jordan, Megan, and Colin M. (3 hours), Tara, Suzanne, Megan, Lisa J. (approx. 3 hours), Megan K. (1 hour), AnnaJane (11hrs), Eilis (6hrs), Leah (6hrs)
  • Nov. 2, 2012 - General Club meeting - Operation Christmas Child shoebox collection / packing. Those who brought supplies: Johansons, Harrigans, Kohns, Puryears, Arnolds, VanSkiver, McCloskey, Hoosiers, Zuspan, Warren, Owsenek, Miller, Keiser, Pelletier, Nguyens, Kerns, Lerch, O'Leary, Hutchens, Avenick, Cribbs. Those who brought canned goods for Operation Turkey: Johansons, Harrigans, Kohns, Puryears, Arnolds, VanSkiver, McCloskey, Hoosiers, Zuspan, Warren, Owsenek, Miller, Keiser, Pelletier, Nguyens. Libby encouraged membership to make donation to the americanredcross.org for relief efforts for Hurricane Sandy damage.
  • November 15, 4pm-5pm, Operation Turkey Sort food from schools food drive:Libby, Marie, David, Evan, Jackie, Andy, Zak.
  • November 16, 4pm-5pm, Operation Turkey Sort food from schools food drive: Shelby, Bakers, AnnaJane, Sauls.
  • November 19, 4pm-6pm, Operation Turkey Help clients carry food vehicles:Libby, Marie, David, Megan, Shelby, Hutchens.
    • Nov. 10, 2012 - Hurricane Sandy collection efforts - drop off at Saul house.
    • Dec. 1, 2012 - Stream Restoration and Wetland Project - plant trees at the Dawson ’s Landing Wetland Site. Elijah only participant.
  • Dec. 7, 2012- General Club meeting - Collection of new or gently used children's books for low income families of Harlan, KY.
  • Dec. 15, 2012 - Laying of Wreaths at Quantico - O'Leary, Lerch, Kerns, Zuspan, Guber, Miller, Hutchens, Kohn, Keiser, Landoll, Pelletier, VanSkiver, Arnold, Nguyen, Jarvandi.
  • Dec. 29th, 2012 - SERVE shelter breakfast volunteering: Marie and David Lerch, Zak Kerns, Tara Jarvandi, Libby Arnold, Shelby Kohn.
  • Jan. 4, 2013 - General Club meeting. Making cat toys for animal shelter. Making snowflakes for Sandy Hook new school to welcome children back. Please bring items requested in the yahoo listserve email from Libby.
  • March 1, 2013 - collection of canned goods at the monthly meeting delivered to SERVE
  • May 10, 2013 - bring your own fresh cut garden flowers, azaleas, etc and flower vases, ribbons, cards and fresh baked goods. we will be assembling Mother's Day flower vases and foods to shut-ins in the Nokesville area, delivered by the Greenwich Presbyterian Church deacons. Report: flowers were delivered on the following day and the comment from Greenwich was "Thanks so much Nokesville 4-h Club!! We loved handing out the flowers and baked goods {to the shut-ins}."
  • Thurs May 16th, 2013 (until 6pm) and Friday May 17th – (until 7pm) meet at Harrigan house to make baby blankets for INOVA FAIRFAX high-risk pregnancy ward. RSVP to Christina Harrigan
    • 2013-2014 community service activities:
      • - Food bank efforts for Nokesville and Bristow: At every meeting for 2013-2014 we have made food bank collection efforts to serve the Bristow and Nokesville communities, with deliveries to the Nokesville UMC and Grace Life Community Church in Bristow. See facebook for photos of food collected.
      • - October: Food bank collection. Soldier blankets started (6 fleece blankets)
      • - November: Food bank collection. Continued soldier blanket making. Operation Turkey participation. Some previously participated in making bean bags at Harrigan house. Some did the SERVE Breakfast making.
      • - December: Food bank collection. WAA efforts. Made Rainbow Looms for food bank recipient children.
      • - January: Food bank collection. Assembled one last soldier blanket with Mrs. Sirangelo. CEO
      • - March: Food bank collection of Mac and Cheese and Spaghetti. Made a huge batch of Taco Soup for SERVE.
      • - May: Food bank collection for SERVE. Volunteered time organizing GPBC (our meeting place) for their yard sale from 5-7pm.
      • - June: Camp counselors
      • - July: Camp counselors
      • - August: County Fair Children's Barn, Horse Project Display, Fair Camp Counselors
      • 2014-2015 community service activities:
      • - Oct - Dec: Wreaths Across America fundraiser and Wreath Laying is on Dec. 13, 2014
      • - October: Food bank donation of spaghetti for SERVE. Meet and greet crafting / getting to know each other activity.
      • - November: Operation Turkey assignments
      • - November: Operation Christmas Child packing items at Nov. 7 meeting. Brought items from this list) and food donations for SERVE meals (peas and green beans for now). 36 OCC boxes were made. See photos for those in attendance.
      • - Nov. 28 lunch team at SERVE is Tori, Libby, Jackie, Andy, Matthew. Meal is ham and cheese sandwiches, fresh whole fruit, green beans, cookies, milk.
      • - Nov. 30th dinner team is Marie, Zak, David, Calah, Libby. family volunteers made homemade turkey tetrazzini casserole! The menu was turkey tetrazzini casserole, peas, salad, dinner rolls, choc chip cookies, milk and tea.
      • - Dec. at meeting - collection of tuna for food drive. created thank you bags for Western District of Prince Wm. County police officers.
      • - January: Police goodie thank you bags delivered
      • - March: Get Well to Mrs. Harrigan and Jerry King, Winter Coat collection
      • - March 9: cookie delivery to nokesville fire department - only matthew a. did this, but a couple families baked
      • - April 13: SERVE - Zak, Marie, Shannon, Peyton and Sheridan H., Julia H.
      • - April 18: Sgt. Curry Welcome home to Nokesville
      • - May: Thank yous to County Supervisors
      • - Summer: Camp Counselors County Fair Children's Barn, Ag Barn Display & 4-H promotions, Fair Camp Counselors
