If I could visit any place in the world, it would have to be the NFL combine because it would be a dream come true to meet all of the future NFL players. The combine takes place in Indianapolis, Indiana at Lucas Oil Stadium. The best players in college football are invited to show the NFL coaches what they are made of in all sorts of different testing. My favorite part of visiting the combine would be meeting the players but also watching them perform on the biggest stage in football. How the players perform could potentially decide if they are drafted early in the draft or later. I would also enjoy asking players questions about their journey they have endured on their way to the draft. I would love to hear stories about how much adversity they have had to overcome and how they overcame it in order to be where they are today. I would also enjoy hearing stories of what goes through their head before and after they are a part to perform on the biggest stage and how they cope with those emotions. Participating in this combine seems like a very stressful task and knowing how it all works would be amazing.
If I won a million dollars today, the first thing I would buy is a brand new beautiful house for my parents. I would buy my parents a house because without them and their support over these last 17 years I don’t know where I would be. My parents deserve this because their guidance and wisdom have made me change my whole outlook on life for the better. I believe this would be the closest thing to paying them back for everything they have ever done for me over the years. I am very thankful for my mom and dad for teaching us kids one of the first steps into becoming successful people, respect. Without respect, it is much harder to be able to be trusted by someone which can lead to all sorts of issues. This is why the first thing I would buy with my million dollars would be a house for my parents.
My favorite saying would have to be from the Bible. John 13:7 says, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” This is my favorite saying because it applies to everyday life in any kind of situation especially when I am facing adversity. Every time I face adversity in my everyday life, I think of this saying because it is my Lord and Savior talking to me and letting me know that everything happens for a reason. This saying reminds me that no matter what, everything will be okay because just like the rapper Kendrick Lamar said, “If God got us then we are going to be alright” I totally agree.
My favorite leisure activity is lifting weights/working out. I feel addicted to the feeling of getting stronger, leaner, and fitter. It never ceases to amaze me as to what the human body can do. For example, this is my favorite activity because it makes me feel good, not just about myself but it helps my mood, sleep habits, and routine throughout the day. Lifting weights and working out is perfect for bettering me both mentally and physically. The human body can do a lot more than the average person thinks. It is my mind I have to convince. If I am doing a workout and I “feel” tired, it is just a state of mind. My body can keep going, that is where the mental factor comes in and really teaches me how to keep pushing myself. Pushing my body to its limits is good, I have to be comfortable in uncomfortable situations. This all translates back to life and helps me become a well-prepared individual for every situation.
My favorite movie is “The Blind Side” because it is a true story about an individual who overcomes extreme adversity and becomes a very successful football player. He is not the only one who has ever overcome similar adversity but the story in which the way it is told is really heartwarming. This movie goes to show the limits someone can go when they have hit rock bottom. The main character could have just continued to stay on the ground when he got knocked down but he was blessed with an opportunity of a lifetime and took full advantage of it. Sometimes in life, we are going to get knocked down, it is up to us whether we choose to get back up or not. You see, pain is temporary, if you quit however, it will last forever.
