Biography
Casey Henderson has been a dedicated and highly respected sports official for over three decades. He has served at nearly every level of competition in both wrestling and football since beginning his career in the late 1980s, becoming a cornerstone of the North Dakota officiating community. He began officiating wrestling in 1988 and has since served as a High School wrestling official for 37 years and a collegiate wrestling official for 15 years. Throughout his career, Casey has officiated 28 North Dakota High School Activities Association (NDHSAA) Wrestling State Tournaments and 53 NDHSAA region tournaments, covering boys and girls individual and dual competitions. At the collegiate level, he has worked three NAIA National Wrestling Championships and numerous NAIA & NCAA Conference, District and Regional tournaments, consistently bringing professionalism, fairness, and passion to the mat. In football, Casey began officiating in 1992 and proudly retired in 2023 after an outstanding 30-year career – 30 years of high school football officiating and 25 years of officiating college football. His contributions include officiating at both the NAIA and NCAA Division II levels, as well as countless high school games. He was selected to officiate seven NDHSAA Dakota Bowl Football State Championship games, the 2018 NCAA Div II Mineral Water Bowl and numerous playoff games for the NDHSAA, NAIA, & NCAA – a testament to his skill, consistency, and leadership on the field. Beyond officiating events, Casey has played a vital role in mentoring the next generation of officials. He has supervised workshops and served as a rules clinic supervisor for the North Dakota High School Activities Association, sharing his knowledge and experience to improve the quality of officiating across the state. Over his career, he has officiated well over 1,100 wrestling and football events, from youth levels all the way to NCAA Division I. Casey began officiating to give back to the sports that shaped him and for over nearly four decades, he has done just that. His commitment to excellence, mentorship, and love for the matches and games of wrestling and football have left a lasting impact on athletes, coaches, fellow officials, and the broader North Dakota sports community. Outside of officiating, Casey continues to serve his community as Market President of Dacotah Bank in Jamestown. He and his wife Shannon are proud parents of two daughters, Lexi Weston (Brent) and Mya Henderson, and grandparents to their beloved grandson, Wells Weston. Casey would like to thank all of those who have been a part of his officiating journey – the thousands of athletes, coaches, officials, & fans – the friendships gained, and memories made have been priceless.
