I really enjoyed this assignment and feel that I have a solid understanding of the simple ciruits we have been working with. My comfort with coding the CPX is still growing. Before beginning this project, I still felt a bit out of my depth so I chose to follow the step by step instructions. I was very methodical with each element for the first set of fairy lights. I tested to find which side was positive and negative with a battery, I made sure the circuit worked before connecting to the CPX (see image 1), and I tested the code once the CPX was set up.
For the second set of lights, I felt much more confident with setting up the ciruit and so did not look at the instructions. I forgot to test which end was positive/negative before taping it down so when I ran the program again, the second strand didnt light up. I guessed that this was the problem and after switching the ends, the program worked.
Similarly to the construction of the circuits, once I understood the code for the first set of lights and how to change the input for the second, I felt confident and did not look at instructions for the third. This proved successful on the first try.Â
While I was working on this assignment in the maker space, one of my friends who is an employee was working. While I didn't end up needing their help, it was reassuring to know someone was there to listen should I need. They also clapped with me each time the program ran effectively which was very encouraging.
Over all, as I look back I think I used the SRL cycle without being quite aware of it in the moment. This makes me wonder how the process may help me with future projects as I become more intentional about implementing plan/do/evaluate.
