A recording of the PINBALL HALL OF FAME in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ripe with activity and spectral intrigue. My lovely girlfriend is pinball's biggest modern day fan. Getting to see the smile on her face as she scored big on machines old and new was a real treat. All vocalizations in this sound byte were courtesy of my partner!
Now onto some history! Pinball machines first appeared with sound in 1935, with Big Game at the forefront. Gaming consistently plays on two senses: Sight and Sound. When Big Game came onto the scene with all the bells and whistles (literally and figuratively), the world changed. The nostalgic bells and clicks were referenced in gaming throughout the century, leading us to 1970 when digital play became the new norm. Inspired by the new integrated sensation, early game developers sought to replicate pinball machines to ultimately create the 8 bit sounds we see in smash titles like Pong 1972.
