Section 2.1: DISTRICT RECOGNIZES ASSOCIATION
The District recognizes the San Diego Education Association (SDEA/CTA/NEA) as the sole and exclusive bargaining representative for all certificated employees employed in the Certificated Bargaining Unit in accordance with the certification issued by the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) on March 21, 1977, in case number LA-R-89, and as modified on November 14, 1994, in case number LA-UM-575, pursuant to PERB-conducted, secret ballot elections.

Over $6 million in dues every year go to the SDEA based on 6,000 teachers. Most of the teachers in the SDUSD never had an opportunity to Vote about SDEA representation, however we were all forced to pay the dues.
You can now Opt-Out, and have your voice counted. Decertification time is NOW HERE!!!! Now is the time to Decertify the SDEA, from the SDUSD and give the power back to the Teachers, Family's and Schools.
Since its founding on July 1, 1854, the district has grown from a small, rented school building with one teacher to its current size—more than 226 educational facilities with 13,559 employees. Nearly 6,000 teachers are in classrooms at the district's various educational facilities, which include 117 traditional elementary schools, 9 K-8 schools, 24 traditional middle schools, 22 high schools, 49 charter schools, 13 atypical/ alternative schools and 5 additional program sites.

Appendix M, of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, is a Sideletter Agreement to be in compliance with the Janus v. AFSCME Council 31.
In section 16.7 REVOCATION OF MEMBERSHIP:
Members of the Association may act at any time to revoke their membership by providing written notice of withdrawal to the San Diego Education Association
